"Unidentified external error" (USB MIDI on Windows 11)

All of the sudden, I'm getting an error that basically says, ""Unidentified external error" whenever I load up an external instrument in Bitwig. The device is clearly listed in the menu, but I have to power cycle the device to use it. This works, but it's pretty tedious. I've never had this issue before. At first I thought it was my Melbourne Instruments Nina, but now I see that it's every USB MIDI synth that I own. USB MIDI converters that are running regular DIN MIDI into older devices are fine. Anyone solve this?

They did an update that messed with midi claiming to update it, but make it backwards compatible. I suggest you try and update Windows and if you already have there's a new preview update where I'm pretty sure they tried and fix the problem. I've has issues with midi not acting right and more than a few people on FL forum have had various issues.

Thanks for the head's up. I'll check for updates again and hopefully it'll be fixed. It's super annoying.osiris wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:23 pm They did an update that messed with midi claiming to update it, but make it backwards compatible.
