Squelchy hit in modern uk hardstyle

I'm getting old when I can't even identify what a sound is. I think it's supposed to be a distorted snare? How would you create this sound? It usually follows along with the kick during breakdowns and choruses. The following is a clear example,

Looks like it's considered a kick. I found some Vital presets that sound really nice.
