Are there any soundfont editors left that work without an actual soundfont soundcard present?

I have a collection of soundfonts which I would still like to edit but my player is a VSTi.

I know the need for soundfonts has dropped in recent times but with so many out there it seems a shame that there's no way of editing them again. I used to use Vienna but I doubt that will work without a host card in the system.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi Stoo,
"Stu here". I use Audio Compositor. I don't know if it is supported anymore, and I haven't really milked any of the editing features in a big way. You can get a trial version and see if it flies for you. All the best. - S

Thanks Stu, I'll try that out and see if it does the trick.

Much appreciated.

You can download and try VSampler. It actually has pretty good SoundFont support and you can manipulate/edit, then save as SoundFont too. AND, it doesn't require a SoundBlaster.

Try Extreme Sample Converter:

http://www.extranslator.com/en/news.htm

It does just about any sample format you can think of, including sound fonts

Hi Stoo,
Audio Compositor is Software based. I fought getting Vienna, because I didn't want a SoundBlaster. AC is software based.

I use Gigastudio 32, which can be found (new in unopened box) very cheap on eBay these days since it's an old version. Then I use Extreme Sample Converter to convert to soundfont. Extreme has a particularly good loop editor, although I generally don't use loops.

I think one of the best one is:

AWave Studio
http://www.fmjsoft.com/

It can be used to edit and convert between all thinkable soundfont formats.

It has native support of soundblaster cards and can also play back via the Windows software synthesizer in realtime.

Absolute recommendation!
