There have been no posts on this one yet. It seems to be the month of reverbs. I currently have it on demo, but I have nothing to say yet other than it does sound very nice.

Niiiiiice! :D
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

It seems like a cut down version of BigSky, with added ensemble? Great sound !
Question is, can BigSky do all that Cloudburst does?
See if it's worth saving up for BigSky or going for the affordable Cloudburst...

Post

Cloudburst is an expanded version of the Cloud reverb algorithm found in our BigSky effect pedal and plug-in. There are a few differences between the two:
  • Relative to the original Cloud algorithm, the short DECAY times on Cloudburst have been greatly expanded and refactored to extend the versatility of the reverb. These changes provide much shorter DECAY times to simulate smaller spaces, so along with the vast ambient DECAY characteristics of the original BigSky Cloud you also get great small and mid-size reverbs on Cloudburst.
  • A new ENSEMBLE feature was added to Cloudburst, which generates a harmonically rich pad or soundscape reminiscent of an orchestral string section. ENSEMBLE is unique in that it follows your playing, so if you use a different pickup or play in a different part of the neck it will sound different.
  • BigSky Cloud has LOW END and DIFFUSION parameters that are not adjustable in Cloudburst. These parameters are automatically adjusted “under the hood” and are determined by the position of Cloudburst’s DECAY knob, and we chose settings that we felt would create the best user experience.

Thanks for the precision .. Clever from Skymon as it feels both reverbs are needed ;)

Tried demo, in short - pretty good freezer, but not for 80 bucks.
For example quite "static" at short lengths.
Also in theory, the price could justify by simple editor for Ensemble fx (like harmony setting in Adaptiverb), instead one knob.
Just imo. 30-40 max

I have the hardware pedal and TBH after the initial 'wow' I havent used it that much, its a bit of a 1 trick pony. I demoed the plug and it sounds exactly the same as the hardware pedal (no surprise as its digital) and I am thinking of selling the pedal and buying the VST as I don't use it live and its a nice trick to have (sounds great on synths as well)
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Variety of Sound Epic Clouds is free and sounds great. It’s windows only tho.

This does not sound good to my ears.
Too overpresent highs.
You folks like that ?
I don´t.

You need the highs for the strings like effect, but you can back it right off with the tone control. I don’t see this as a reverb, more as a special effect and it is great with guitar.

Thanks for the explanation.
I use one of the other new ones to turn a Synh (ZL3) into strings.
But i never put my techniques into sort of a intellectual receipe.
So i have no awarness "for that". ;)

I seee that. I exactly know what anybody would mean with that. But that´s the old (US?) sound to me. Overpronounced. Too much.......(slightly) hyping things on a pink cloud.
Ok, so still no Strymon for me. As much as i would like to......
This will surely find it´s fanbase. And surely will sell.

This sounds quite beautiful, not the typical shimmer effect as it's not based on feed-backing a pitch transposition but rather it creates additional harmonic content in the upper octaves, thus the “string“-like sound...

Processing an improv played with a sampled Santur with Strymon's Cloudburst, automating several parameters of Cloudburst in Logic. Video starts dry.

Very CPU efficient. Sounds lovely but it is a bit of a one-trick pony. It's a really good trick though. Do I need another reverb? I do now! :dog: :D

Post

It is nice to have a reverb that adds to the signal without doing the pitch shift shimmer. Shimmer is kinda overdone these days.

It does sound good, but another reverb? Naw, not unless they do a BF no-brainer sale or something.
