Randomness in instruments and sequences

Is there a way to randomize instrument parameters and steps in sequences / the piano roll? It would we so powerful in loops to play generative music.

What do you need to do that the existing random generator module doesn't do?

I guess it does what I need - I just was not aware of it. I started learning Mulab. Are there any examples of how to patch it in?
