get the most amazing sounds played out in delays, tails, sustains, etc and you are like 'that, I want that, as a song' then just move on and never try to capture 'that'?

Yeah, I also get it when I switch from one patch to another on certain hardware synths

I try to work some of those tails into songs as breaks/breakdowns.
It tends to work out but the novelty fades if you do it too much.
I'm not any good at ambient, otherwise I'd try it that way.
