Anyone else upgraded to this? I can't for the life of me work out how you switch engines except through loading a patch already made with one or the other engine.
Otherwise it sounds good, I think the Wurli engine is more improved than the Rhodes one though, which sounds pretty much the same to me.

I'm trying the demo and I have some thoughts... If I'm being perfectly honest it feels a bit half baked.
For one thing, there doesn't seem to be any way to switch between the "Tine" and "Reed" engines without selecting a different preset. I may be missing something but I did RTFM and tried clicking virtually everywhere on the interface. This was simple enough to do in version 4 but I'm guessing maybe they left it out in version 5 because now each model has different parameters and they couldn't figure out how to implement the switch in a logical way that would match users' expectations. Not a huge deal I suppose but I'm not crazy about that decision.
Another thing, the velocity scaling feels very unnatural to me. I looked everywhere and couldn't find a setting to select or adjust the velocity curve, although many individual parameters have a velocity modulation knob. Whatever, I just slapped some midi velocity plugin behind it on moved on...
Aside from that I think I've caught some bugs.
The tremolo shapes appear to be switched on the interface in the Tine model. Also above a certain rate the shapes seem identical which I guess isn't technically a bug but not what I would expect.
The "Character" slider makes audible clicks and changes the level even when the switch is off. Don't tell me that's not a bug, that's definitely a bug!
Changing the "Voice" knob on the guitar amp effect changes both the range and value of the output knob. This may be intentional but feels buggy to me.
In general a lot of the switch/selector type parameters click audibly when changed, even though some don't like the effects on/off toggles.
Sound-wise, it took me quite a while fiddling around to get sounds I was happy with, there are a lot of unnatural sounding possible settings often with a rather narrow sweet-spot range. That being said, once I found a sound I like, it does sound excellent and is a pleasure to play! It's clearly capable of more authentic and satisfying sounds than version 4 was.
It's a definite "maybe" from me.

I have way too many electric piano plugins. Only last week I opened a recent project and discovered that Lounge Lizard 4 had lost its settings (all other plugins were still fine). I could not find the settings I had, nor did I find any preset that came close.
Then I loaded the Korg EP-1 for the first time. I did not expect much from the EP-1 with that generic name, but since it was included in my Korg Collection upgrade, why not try it? And there it was almost immediately... that smooth warm bell like Rhodes sound I had so much trouble finding back in LL4.
Just as I was thinking Korg EP-1 is going to be my goto Rhodes from now on, the Lounge Lizard upgrade offer comes along.
So now I am wondering if this is worth it. How is the redesigned physical modeling in Lounge Lizard 5 compared to version 4? Is it a huge improvement or did you hardly notice any differences?
And then today: The brand new GSi Magic Tines is released. Also with an upgrade discount since apparently I bought its predecessor MrRayMark2 in some distant past.
Choices, choices... Oh well, who am I kidding? I am probably just going to get them both.

You may have found this (or maybe I'm just misunderstanding) but click the red library button and the Tine and Reed engines are available (and, yes, it seems that one does need to load a preset as a starting point.) I think this is the only way to do it.aMUSEd wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2025 12:10 pm Anyone else upgraded to this? And, yes, the Reed engine seems more improved than the Tine but only, I think because the Tine was so strong to begin with. There seems perhaps a bit more detail there as well, however. Some of the presets seems designed to show this.
It's an impressive upgrade (especially for $49.)

Got the upgrade because it's my job as a consumer. I think sampled libraries sound better / more inspiring. Looks a bit meh as well.
