What's the deal with the Ocean Way Drums and why are they trapped in the Infinite Player?

HI,
I still use the old Ocean Way Drum multi kits in Kontakt 5 with the Infinite Player on an old Win 7 dedicated offline DAW.

I have always enjoyed the OWD samples, but I only work in MIDI occasionally.

Yesterday, while making some new drum maps, I found a few things, like two samples mapped to the same note, and realized I can't fix them because they are password protected, etc.

That got me thinking about Infinite Player, and I started wondering what will happen when I move to the next computer.

So, I looked around the internet, and saw that Sonic Reality still offers to sell the Ocean Way package, but it can only be used if you have an old Infinite Player serial, which I have. But, what is the likelihood of installing an Infinite Player made during the WinXP era on a Win11 machine?

I figured I'd be willing to buy the library again, but I see that it is not offered in a modern package.

What the heck happened? I read that Sonic ran out of Infinite Player serial numbers, and someone from Native Instruments disappeared, somehow turning the Infinite Player content into archive ware.

Where did the samples go? Were they just rented from Allen Sides?

Where did the scripting go? I can't imagine it is not sitting on a Sonic Reality hard drive somewhere.

Is there a possibility that an original owner, with proof of purchase etc. can get access to an unlocked version of these Kontakt samples, kits, and multis?

What's happened?

Thank you!
