Are there MP3 players for MacOS with AU plugin support?

I am looking for an audio file player (MP3, M4A, etc.) for MacOS that can add plugins (AU format).
Are there any?
Why? I'd like to use an analyzer (spectrogram) and alternatively headphone room simulator when listening to music that are references for me.

I'd try Loopback or Rogue Amoeba for chaining diverse apps via virtual cables.
Or why not load your audio file in your fav DAW.

Thanks for reminding me of Rogue Amoeba and software of that type. That might work if I don't find a player app that can directly load plugins. I wasn't going to spend $69 though.BertKoor wrote: Wed Jun 25, 2025 9:16 pm I'd try Loopback or Rogue Amoeba for chaining diverse apps via virtual cables.

DAWs have a different workflow than media player apps. It's possible to use a DAW to listen to music but impractical.

JRMC says it supports VST but I'm not sure if that is true for the Mac version and it doesn't mention AU

COG's great, but the AU functionality there is intended to route output from MIDI files to an AU plugin. It doesn't support AU for processing audio.aMUSEd wrote: Thu Jun 26, 2025 9:42 amThere's also COG - I thought it was defunct but can see recent builds

Rogue Amoeba has Sound Source which let’s you use plugins on system wide audio. No need for a special player or disabling plugins in your DAW when bouncing.
