Ensoniq VFX-SD owners, MIDI SongSelect tests

Greetings, I have a working VFX-SD, and have been experimenting with using it as multi-timbral receiver downstream from Win10x64 PC running Reaper. It is running v2.00 of the O/S - my v2.10 floppy disk seems to have developed a critical failure, and given its age, well, fair enough.

However, I have been trying to get SongSelect messages to switch the Sequence/Song in the VFX-SD, by adding a SongSelect message to a MIDI clip in Reaper, and pressing Play across it.

MIDI-OX confirms the message is being sent and is correctly formatted, but even with valid data in the 00-59 range with a Song/Sequence in that slot, my old VFX-SD stubbornly refuses. I have enabled SongSelect in the MIDI options menu, so no excuses there.

Question then, does anyone have the means to test this out at home, to see if there is a difference between v2.1 and v2.0 sequencer O/S that may be the issue?

Or is this one of those bugs that never got resolved.

I have a TS12 in service so I can test that down the line.
