First, the Klark Teknik EQP-KT Classic Tube Equalizer. It's a single channel EQ and should work fine after the preamp. I've had really good results with using the TC Electronic Tube Pilot overdrive pedal, which has a tube in it, in front of my solid state preamps as a booster, drive set almost at zero and only using the level. I also had good results, after advice I got on this forum, using an EQ pedal in front of the amp, so I'm wondering if it is advisable to plug the guitar straight into the Klark Teknik EQP-KT Classic Tube Equalizer and place it in front of the preamp
Secondly, the PreSonus Studio Channel Mono Vacuum Tube Preamp/Compressor/EQ. It does have an instrument input, I'm wondering whether I place it in front of or after another preamp, is it advisable to place two preamps together like this? And if I do, if I should take some cautions to avoid damage
Rack gear, EQ and preamps, ways to use them?

There are two functions:
* Impedance. Standard rack gear is made for line level impedance (600 ohm output, 10k input) while a passive guitar pickup has a high impedance of a milliom Ohm.
* Colouration, subtle saturation, tone control, "boutique" boxes.

It depends on what you want to do.
In front of the pre would warm up before the pre, after the pre you're warming up the output.
Both are certainly worth trying. Gain staging will be required when it comes to using multiple preamps for sure.
You can string as many preamps as you want together, that's what a lot of the high gain folks do.

I just want to add some colour and tone control. For some reason a tube in front of the preamp makes much more difference than after, perhaps as it is already running to a tube power amp and just another tube doesn't make that much difference. The same goes for EQ, EQ works fine after the preamp, you can use it as a booster in front of the preamp though and it makes a completely different impact on the sound

That's exactly my point, it depends on what your goal is.
Be a scientist and experiment until you find the tone that you're chasing.
