So I've been having a fun and frustration over the last week. with my new acoustic guitar. Some of the Travis picking has come back to me and while I can get through some stuff just fine like "Dust in the wind" a number of Zepplin tunes. I am woefully inadequate with folk, folk rock, bluegrass, country. The more I play the D'angelico Tammany the more I want to play folk rock stuff accurately.

Thanks for that....lfm wrote: Sun Jul 20, 2025 5:34 pm "Shake That Thing" with Stefan Grossman is a cool tune
Tabs available too, from a link or elsewhere.
If rusty "Oh Papa" is even easier to get fingers going.
One of the first acoustic blues songs I ever learned was Lightnin Hopkins
Baby Please don't go. That seriously mixed things up for me as it was the first time I conceived of "Chord/Melody" playing as opposed to strictly rhythm or lead.
I want to explore more simplified arpeggio rhythm playing Like House of the Rising Sun but more variation in the pattern playing. (Yes that was the first fingerstyle song I learned)

When I was looking for a nylon it became Cordoba, and found this linked on their site
From start you hear the final tune how it is played.
About 3:54 in the more fingerstyle comes into play, and from a very simple chord progression builds a really nice tune, I think.
- some of it useable for House of the rising sun

Stefan Grossman. Apparently Clapton consulted him when he was trying to play old Robert Johnson stuff. He makes it look deceptively easy, but getting the thumb to act independently of the other fingers isn't as easy as it might seem at first.
I have a DVD lessons disk by him. He assumes a general knowledge of T-picking, which I didn't have when I bought the thing.

Well we are getting closer. I think I'm just going to rummage through my infinite collection of gp/tef/ptab collection.
