I don’t know about TV or movies, but I use Speakerphone for game work. For example, in the last game I worked on, two people were talking over the radio, and I was going back and forth between what they sounded like in their environment, and what they sounded like coming out of a speaker in a different environment. Often the player was hearing instructions from an in-ear monitor. It could be a computer, which had effects made by other software, or a person, who was in an environment and also in your ear.

Why are you asking here?

Speakerphone is designed for this type of work and has impulse responses of "next room", "bathroom" etc. any convolution based processor can do this and productions often capture IRs of any places they record dialogue for this purpose. If all the spatialization is faked, I'd recommend speakerphone unless you have lots of experience. It will match many productions that people are familiar with by virtue of being one of the go-to processors for this type of work for years.

Are you for real? Asking about audio effects on an audio effects sub is now gatekept? Take your status-posturing somewhere else. We all start from somewhere. Just because you know some movie sound engineering private Discord to ask questions doesn't mean the rest of us do. So we come to...audio production forums we know about to ask... audio production questions.

But really, why are you posting? It wasn’t to help, or to contribute to discussion.

Of course. This isn't a movie/film/soundtrack forum, where you can find information from professionals in the industry. This is a forum about plugins (and occasionally hardware, whatever) populated by a shit load of numpties who mostly take the piss.

Problem with that?

Try this place, they are more pleasant/professional

Interesting answers, reverbs are a constant topic here. Sound professionals start at €400 (not like, for example, Valhalla).
