What do you think it is? It sounds very brassy so perhaps Oberheim

Based on the other videos, it seems to be based on the Korg Trident.

Based on the colors, someone at cherry audio probably likes trident gum.

Korg M-500 or SB100

I have known about it for a few weeks.
I am not a Beta tester or work for them but i read something about that they will bring back the symphony into the computer so i guess it is some sort of string machine or maybe a Workstation plugin.

Interesting guesses so far! Cherry Audio seem to enjoy throwing curveballs, so I’m curious whether this is actually a synth emulation or something more unexpected—maybe even a hybrid instrument or a string/symphonic angle like some folks mentioned. Either way, the teasers look polished. Looking forward to seeing what drops on the 7th.

The countdown is on. I hope it's not a Trident. I owned this synth for six months in the 80s and then sold it for half price (because I couldn't get rid of it otherwise). As a synthesizer, it was simply useless. I'm not surprised that Korg doesn't offer the Trident as a soft synth.

The various clues on Cherry Audio's social media sites and on Sonic State's leave no questions that it's a Korg Trident unless they are deliberately screwing with us which is doubtful

Especially the emphasis on layers which was the main driver of the Trident with its 8 voice 2 Osc poly, separate string machine, and separate dedicated brass synth. The button layouts and shapes they have teased are also from the Trident

Should be an interesting synth plugin especially if they added some extra goodies

Low hanging fruit then?
If it is, then it's added "goodies" might make its worth. But doesn't the Dreamsynth kind of overshadow it from this start?
Personally hope for more of their own ideas like Dreamsynth, Harmonia and Sines to see what their next level from the past is. Been wondering for a time if they'll attempt their own style of Rapid or even acquire it from the "chorus of abandonment" that currently surrounds it. Of course I would love to see their version of a Transistor Vox/Jennings Continental Drawbar and always push for any developer to do the YC45d. But the last few offerings has had me thinking "nice, but so what". Their building from the past is only relative to what their developing for the future to see.

Yeah I am a big fan of Dream synth. I really like the myriad of digital waveforms available

I think in plugin land a Korg Trident with enhanced polyphony can make a lot of sense especially as Cherry seems to always prove things decently

Not only could you create layered patches with all three engines but you can then use it just as a poly or just as a string machine and get hopefully some different flavors of those

In the early 1980s no one was buying it just to use it as a poly, or a string machine but as a plugin with multiple instances and enhanced polyphony why not

Can't get much more low hanging than Full Bucket's free Tricent take on the Trident. Sounds pretty much like the hardware and...um....free.

Looking up the original hardware to get an idea of the features, it's not a synth I would have bought. I heard some nice sounds in the videos I watched, but it seem like it was very limited.
Having said that, it Cherry Audio's plugin expands the capabilities of the 3 engines, it might be capable of much more. From the second video, it does have modern effects (hopefully a separate fx chain for each engine), and a step sequencer. I'll give the demo a try after work, and see if it's something I really want or not.

And it's confirmed to be the Korg Trident

Looks like they added a step sequencer, a bunch of effects, and increased polyphony to 16 over the original hardware

Watching the live stream and it sounds pretty good

Hmm well i'm sure its good but i will stick with FB Tricent

Well, it's better than the moog opus was, but not sure it's something I'm interested in in software
