Should have known it was coming...only makes sense as natural progression for all the AI music composing tools...so are all the traditional DAWs going to have to add AI to keep up/compete?...or draw a line in the sand for human artistry like supposedly Steinberg has messaged?

"Suno watermarking every stem makes this service useless. If I right an entire song, but need a baseline, or a background vocal, the entire song will get labeled as AI made. Even if only 1% of the song has AI data & everything was man made." from the comments on that linked article. they mean write not right for anyone with English as second language/use translating.
as far as where the music industry is going - I personally suspect artists are just being used to temporarily pay the bills on these music LLMs. your giving up your artistry to a company that will hard abandon you when their AI is good enough. why not just hire the few good prompters out there *assuming ai can't be trained to ask good prompts to another llm*. and release the music and make the money ourselves - lets even have ai make the fake music video.
I support steinberg on this stance and I unfortunately suspect a lot of bad things will happen before legislation is passed to protect artists.
I don't have faith in the consumer to reject ai art. half of the consumers can't even name the song they sing to on streaming (made up statistic) bc they listen to music on the treadmill or shower only.

If it makes life easier with editing I would use it. If it can convincingly change my vocals to female, I would use it cause then I don't have to worry if my vocalists are available to record.
If it can mix and master my song where all i have to do is give it a referenece track I WOULD SIGN UP RIGHT NOW.

This is why I like the idea of the new streamer here that makes you pick an artist to give a 1$ of your monthly subscription fee directly towards.qtheerearranger wrote: Sat Sep 27, 2025 6:14 pm "as far as where the music industry is going - I personally suspect artists are just being used to temporarily pay the bills on these music LLMs. your giving up your artistry to a company that will hard abandon you when their AI is good enough.

well in usa, they have already decided ONLY MAORITY AI songs are not elegible for royalties...what will constitute "majority" will prolly be argued in courts for a whileqtheerearranger wrote: Sat Sep 27, 2025 6:14 pm I support steinberg on this stance and I unfortunately suspect a lot of bad things will happen before legislation is passed to protect artists.
agreed...that's why streaming took off because most people are not really IN to music...it is true that a significant percentage of the population doesn't have an intimate relationship with music...they are more interested in the things "around" music that increase their ability to have access to social activities...music is just a necessary conduit to being socially relevant...I've noticed this being involved in music in many different ways...qtheerearranger wrote: Sat Sep 27, 2025 6:14 pm I don't have faith in the consumer to reject ai art. half of the consumers can't even name the song they sing to on streaming (made up statistic) bc they listen to music on the treadmill or shower only.

certainly not, which was my point (I made a mistake though - the German "b" is b flat in English (we call the b "h"), which is what I meant - not that it really matters, was just a semi-arbitrary example anyway)

AI does not care if its answer is correct; it will say anything to keep you engaged.

supposedly Steinberg employee said they had no plans to add AI to cubase with some philosophical rationale in their forums...Trancit wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 6:47 amTo what are you refering here?bermudagold wrote: Sat Sep 27, 2025 5:47 pm ...or draw a line in the sand for human artistry like supposedly Steinberg has messaged?

Depends.. ist it maj7? If not, then it's mostly Bb Lydian/D Minor. Only the Gmaj is (probably) borrowed from C Major (borrowed chord scales follow the way of most common chords of the chord changes normally)jens wrote: Sat Sep 27, 2025 9:19 pm Can one of you guys maybe help me please? When it comes to Suno Studio: I'm conflicted.
On one side, if someone told me as a kid, "here's a tool, that creates the parts of your song in any way you like", I'd absolutely enjoyed it. But trying it out, it feels like cheating and somehow like no fun at all.
I mean it's usefull, but it feels like having autoplay on in a game.
Sadly I think it'll be like when daws came along and replaced tape machines and the way music was made (live recordings): the ways we do music now will not dissapear, but be more of the exception.
I guess there's no way of fighting it, but learn to use it (same as social media)
