love at first sight .... energyXT's sequencer!

i awlays looked at this plugin as a geeks tool that would have no use to me or my music in any way.....
well i tried the latest demo and i found out it is potentially the best sequencer around!!!...and i ddin't even know it was a sequencer wtf! I always thought it was "just" a complex modular vst host ....

when u open the sequencer fullscreen it just feels good.minimal ,clean , tidy.....u feel like makin music straight away.

I have problems resizing the loop bar to my likings and .....also bein able to resize vertically would be cool...
ah yeah also the resizing of midi parts seem to be possible only from the right.....doesn't resize from the left. so i would say resizing in genral is the only problem i found with this app so far.


can someone tell me what's NOT good about this sequencer b4 I buy? any issues i shuld consider?
consider i wanna use this sfotware as my main and only sequencer.

Personally I hate the piano roll and note editing, but then I havent read the manual so theres probably loads of keyboard shortcuts to make it easier. And if you can figure out how to automate send effects with the envelope tool without the manual youre a better man than I - spent an hour clicking around last night and still none the wiser Gotta RTFM sometime

Other than that you cant sniff at €39 can you

he he I personally love the piano roll......no stupid pencils or such. just double click and boom....so fast!
yet again i just started using it. so i might bump into something i don't like soon....but so far so good.
I don't automate send( i hardly use'em ) ....so i think i'm fine with that one.

I still haven't wrapped my head around it yet, either... some basic functionality (like the resizing you mentioned) has to be addressed before I will consider it for main sequencing duties; however--

39 Euro? You'd have to be mad to pass up on it. I assume you have another sequencer you're using in the meantime... this will (as the ad says) expand your host while you're learning it! For a bargain of a price, you get a great arpeggiator, chorder, modular routing, a sampler, and so much more! It's the deal of a lifetime.

39 Euro? You'd have to be mad to pass up on it. I assume you have another sequencer you're using in the meantime... this will (as the ad says) expand your host while you're learning it! For a bargain of a price, you get a great arpeggiator, chorder, modular routing, a sampler, and so much more! It's the deal of a lifetime.

Or do like I did - throw out Cubase and start recording, hassle-free. (BTW, I _only_ use the sequencer for now.)

Go that one soooo right... it feels so damn solid compared to Cubase and Tracktion. Mind you, it also looks incredibly good.

The sequencer arrange doesnt have vertical resizing yet.. but try pressing H to minimize tracks, and E to enable midi editing in arrange.

I woulden't imagine that would be too hard. Having had xt for about 2 weeks now, i think i can figure it out. Although i prefer to set up my own mixer with send effects then create sends in the sequencer. This way you just create a midi port in the sequencer route it to the effect and automate it through that midi port. I think that would work, but i don't have xt at hand at the moment to try it out.

I do like the sequencer in xt but for me it has a major drawback. If you create instruments and effects in it they don't show up on the main screen, they are hidden away within the sequencer. They should appear on the main screen and automatically be routed, ala reason style. I do beleive this is already a feature request though. I think this should be a priority though as for me it ruins the whole point of xt being modular if this kind of functionality isn't there for the sequencer.

If you plan to use the sequencer as your only sequencer, be warned:
Working with audio clips is, sorry jorgen, a bitch. With long clips, it is nearly impossible to adjust start and end points as well as cutting out pieces in the middle.

Just my opinion, though. And it is already on the feature request list.

I believe one of the problems is related to the "Render to WAV" function in the sequencer. If you place your send effects in the main window, then the sequencer can't include them when rendering the tracks to an audio file. There is a record function in the Master Out, but it's easier within the sequencer and hopefully this can be fixed.

It's also possible to include an instance of eXT as a VSTi inside the sequencer component and route the instrument outputs to the eXT instance and you can do all your modular connections within the eXT instance before it leaves the sequencer component. But that's a bit lengthy. eXT guru NicFit had a great example of it somewhere on the eXT forum.

But I use eXT as my main host now, and sometimes as a VSTi in FL Studio. It's great.

ok after a good try out I must say ....this sequencer is a revolution in music composition.
yesterday i composed a little tune while reading though forums and chatting on msn....yes ...AT THE SAME TIME! while waitin for a reply or refershing a page I was adding little pieces to my composition.
its the only sequencer i have ever tried that retains its FULL functionality in a small window. basically i had msn and energy xt opened at the same time....one next to the other......and i had still lots of spare space for something else on my desktop.
its probably a candidate to be good solution for pocket pcs and the likes.
I just have this nice little blue rectangular window always opened.....it just integrates so well in the windows environment. its just like having a nice winamp skin opened.


editec : I'm having a few small probs unbfortunately but I yet to find whever its a problem with my setup or XT bugs.
