I put a new song in my music website called "Part of The Time"; it's the song on top. Please tell me how you like the song and how it can be improved, and I will return the favor (leave me a link if you don't have a recent thread). Here is my link:

I have a new main photo on my music website, and yes, I took the photo of the whale underwater while snorkeling.

Excellent bass tone and groove - I really enjoyed the guitar solo/sound and the key solo at the end. Where do you get the vocal background samples from? Very cool whale picture!

jcub,
Thank you for listening and commenting! I appreciate it! The female vocals are from EastWest “Voices of Passion” with no EastWest delay, reverb, or ADT; though has Melodyne pitch correction & pitch tweaks, Presswerk compression, and Helix stereo Ping Pong delay & stereo Dynamic Hall reverb.

Trying to get back to some kind of normal after my accident.

Listening to "Part Of The Time"

Great bass line and lead guitar. Also love some of the drum fills. I had a feeling the BG vocals were Voices Of Passion because I have that vst as well.

Great track as always. Too bad I only get this treat once a month.

Sounds great. Love the song, and the new background photo. That must have been a hell of an experience getting the picture :) Synth break that comes in around halfway was super cool. Did you record the female vocals or was that a library? I really liked the indian feeling of that.

The female vocals are EWQL Voices Of Passion.

jwnicholson,
Thank you for checking it out and commenting, I appreciate it! I have wanted to snorkel with at least one whale for decades. It's not legal anywhere in the USA, but people are obviously doing it there, judging on TV shows and youtube videos. I did it legally (outside of the USA), where you can do that in small groups. It involved lots of searching in a small boat, and lots of swimming where you see nothing but blue water. The photo is a "baby" that is about 20 feet long; it swam towards us twice. It swished its tail within about 2 feet of one person; that tail came within about 10 feet from me as it was swimming moderately fast. The adults can stay much longer underwater. I barely saw the (probably) mother at least 50 feet underwater, just "sitting there", "standing on its head". She looked about twice as big as the "baby". That "baby" could easily kill a human if it wanted to, it's so big.

"Part of the Time": The song starts with drums and female vocals and a great
growling bass. Beautiful vocals, with great dynamics and a fantastic melody.
Then comes a guitar solo with lots of reverb. After that, my ears detect a
synth break with some original touches. Very well done! The ending is
somewhat abrupt - I thought there would be another verse and chorus.

Suggestions for improvement: Hard to say. The composition is really great.
Looking at the mix, the song could have a bit more clarity. But that's a
matter of taste.

Overall: Well done, beautifully melodic and dynamic. :tu:

I listened on my Sony MDR7506s, and boy that is a good mix. I can't find anything "wrong". The only thing I can even think of to say is the guitar could've been louder, but that's only if you wanted it even level with the vocals, which I assume is not the case. The guitar sounded purposefully placed slightly below, so the vocals were more of the focus.

It was a really interesting song and eclectic blend of instrumentation. Nice work!

If you want to check out any of my tracks, I'm curious of you have any feedback on this one:

Cavey,
Thank you for the review, I appreciate it! I use the the same headphones you do. I lived in Daly City when I was too young to remember anything about it. Your song: Vocals are quite good. I'm trying to figure out if the vocals are female, or a male with a high voice/falsetto; either way it works. The synths are very cool. Very nice song and recording!

Thank you for listening and commenting, I really appreciate it. Sometimes I (a male) sing and use a pitch & formant shifter, but that track has a combo of 2 female virtual singers (Synthesizer V plugin). I think I mixed that track favoring the high end frequencies, so hopefully it wasn't too harsh, especially on the 7506s, which are supposed to be a little hyped at the high end.

Really cool track. It reminds me somehow of Massive Attack (that is a compliment) -at least in the beginning, later on it gets mor rock-oriented. I even could imagine a song only with the material of the first minute. Overall a good listen! Well done!

(the new picture is cool, but wasn't that dangerous??!)
it is better to have a track with some mistakes than a track without any soul

tomtom1,
Thank you for listening and replying! I appreciate it! Snorkeling with whales is rarely dangerous. Though I have seen a couple of videos where a big whale jumps out of the water and lands on a boat; by mistake, I assume. There's a certain region where a Killer Whale has attacked boats more than once. My wife's grandfather was a professional hard-hat diver, and once a Killer Whale swam right up to him, but didn't bother him. Killer Whales have killed trainers in tanks more than once, though not in the wild. Once, a SCUBA diver was inside the mouth of a large whale for several minutes, and barely survived; I assume the whale accidentally "ate" him while attempting to eat its natural prey. At least once, a person (or two) in a kayak got "swallowed" by a large whale, and then got spit out. I have swam with sharks a bunch of times, but they were species (Nurse sharks and Reef sharks) that rarely attack people. I swam with Whale Sharks (23 and 27 feet long) once in the Georgia Aquarium, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. One of them bumped into me from below. One of them bumped into a snorkler pretty hard, and the guy tumbled down the Whale Shark's back, but I don't think he was hurt. You don't want to get caught between them and the walls of the aquarium: you might get squished.
