I've been struggling to find an audio effects plugin that has some kind of an on/off switch or trigger, and can reverse the input audio starting from the point of triggering.
My goal is to trigger reverse effect on the fly via midi at any arbitrary point in time without any gap or discontinuity in the audio.
To achieve this, I assume the plugin would need to keep an audio buffer that is constantly sampled in a continuously rolling window. So a typical reverse delay wouldn't work.
So far the only thing I've found that can do this is ShaperBox's TimeShaper and using midi to force restart the envelope, but TimeShaper doesn't work when host playback is paused.
Does anyone know of a plugin that can do this even when host playback is paused?
Plugin that can reverse audio immediately from the moment it’s triggered?

I think this is possible using the Looper module in the Korg Kaoss Pad VST.
You configure the module to only output the backwards signal and trigger it with the "Loop" button (which can be routed to the pad controls however needed).

There's a preset in Guitar Rig 5 that does this, but it's a delay preset, so not what you're looking for, but the closest I've ever heard that will reverse from the beginning of the audio with no delay in sound.
