Nice work bones. This sounds great. I really like the drive in Slaves. I did find your choice of music distribution outlets a bit ironic considering the content.

Thanks, Wags, I appreciate the feedback. Machine was the first thing we did for the album and it kind of set the tone.

We have a label, they make those decisions but, as I've explained in the past, every Punk band I can remember ended up on a major label, we at least only have distribution through one. Not that it makes a blind bit of difference.

Thanks, you are very kind. We're really happy with it, too. I keep wondering when we're going to run out of puff but, so far, we seem to be able to keep improving with every release. When you think of the trajectory of most artists - their early stuff is their best work and they sort of trail off after a couple of albums - it's amazing that our history seems to go in the opposite direction. I think that has a lot to do with ever advancing technology which has allowed us to do more and better, rather than us getting better ourselves. At least we've been able to maintain a level of creativity that we're happy with, and reviewers seem to acknowledge that, which is nice validation.

I've done it live a couple of times, doing our own support slots, but finding the time and energy to put into recording vox and finishing anything off is something of a challenge. NOVAkILL has to come first and with the AI thing we're doing at the moment, I've basically rolled over from finishing this, straight into that.

That and the fact that I broke three bones in my foot earlier in the year and for three months I couldn't get onto the boat. It delayed the release of this by a couple of months because I couldn't finish the mastering. If that hadn't happened, I'm pretty sure I'd probably have got an EP done by now. But we also released a couple of EPs on Bandcamp in 2022, each with two revamped NOVAkILL songs and two covers, done a-la NOVAkILL. That got a lot of it out of my system.

The focus of the covers project has also shifted somewhat. It started off being relatively commercial but lately I've been concentrating on more obscure stuff, like early Simple Minds (Changeling), The Sisterhood (Giving Ground) and lesser known tracks from bands like Depeche Mode (Never Let Me Down Again) and Devo (Blockhead). I've even done a version of Buzzcocks' Something''s Gone Wrong Again, which sounds epic.

There's also a NOVAkILLed version of Ultravox's The Man Who Dies Every Day on the single from this album. I've got a straighter version of it for the side-project but I'll have to do the vocals differently for that.

Love it/them, @BONES! Gives me some Front Line Assembly and Die Krupps vibes, and a bit of Skinny Puppy and possibly some Nitzer Ebb as well. Those were the times (for me it was the early 90's)

Same here. I didn't know any of that stuff even existed until around 1989. It was a revelation to hear music that tapped the same vein that I'd been trying to work on. It gave me real clarity and direction, especially hearing Leaether Strip's Solitary Confinement for the first time. It was a real Eureka! moment for me/us. Thanks for your kind words.

By the way, I was wondering, do you have any gigs planned in Brisbane next February? I’ll be there then, possibly in Sydney too, but I haven’t decided yet.

Never Let Me Down Again is a favorite of mine. I hardly do any covers, but did one of that. The audience loved it! They'll probably love yours too, hard to go wrong with that as a base.

The side project covers are pretty straight, we only aggro them up for NOVAkILL.

We don't really know anyone up there who could organise anything for us. Last time we played in Brisbane was with Clan of Xymox, Covenant and Leaether Strip and only 20 people turned up. It was an unmitigated disaster.

If you decide to come to Sydney let me know, it would be good to meet in person.

Sorry to hear about the low audience number. I have at least heard (about) Covenant (they are from Sweden, right?). I don't think they're very big here in Sweden, but quite big, at least on the EBM scene, in Germany.

I have only booked Brisbane and the Fiji Islands so far, but Sydney is a potential destination, if only for 3 days, or so. I'll let you know, would be cool to meet up in person.
