SoundAPP
bet you didn't know you could do Batch converting(ie take a zillion wav files and convert them into something else like aiff and such in one click

well what you do is "creat playlist" find the folder of your files and using the shift key click on everything you wanna convert

then press add

then got into "convert" set to what you want the files to come out as

and then on the playlist click "convert all"

it asks you to create a folder, click ok

and there ya go all your thousands and thousands of tr-909 samples are being converted from one format to another

the list of availbale format is astonishing...some obscure one too (like paris )

First thing I did when I read "SoundApp" at the top was to have a close look at the "Posted:" date of your post...

But did you know, that apart from dragging whole folders or drives onto SoundApp, you could even drag applications and any kind of documents onto it, and it will extract/convert any sound found in the app or file! :-o
Best to try is dragging a game onto SoundApp, and instantly you'll have all the game-sounds as aiff or whatever. 8)

I'm saying it does do that, and it is very cool.

Just drag any file that contains a sound onto the SoundApp icon and hold the help-key for conversion (set in the preferences, either 'command' or 'alt' by default) while you do so. Try it with a game program or a program that you know has a startup sound, or.... It sucks any (known format) sound out of any file! :D

I'm not sure what you mean by "gigga files" though. :?:

:D I've been using this app for a few years now.. works brill..

it's not been ported to OSX though has it .. shame.. because it's just a no nonsense program that does what you want, when you want it..

i'm still stuck on OS9.. so can still make use of it.. only for a while though :D

Since SoundApp uses the Soundmanager, you can use it in Classic mode on OSX without any problems.

Out of curiosity: What makes you being stuck on OS9?
In my case it is mainly the thousands of presets I created for my plugins in Logic Settings format. :(

Dr.Wackler... in the early OSX days.. Jaguar..

I bought a laptop and started using it gradually... I was watching eagerly as all my fave plugs got ported..

saying to myself.. as soon as .. so and so get's ported I'll make the move..

then i got really busy.. OS9 was working for me.. and i didn't have the time to switch

I've had fun on OSx ... Live, Logic and Reason with an MAudio 410..but the laptop cannot cope with the Ram needed to run VSL
some things i could not even give the time to getting on to the laptop.. they were too much to sort..

now.... I'm waiting for a nice pay cheque to arrive :D it will.. hopefully before christmas..

G5, PT002r and the switch will take place then.. hopefully i'll have some quiet times to get it all done..

so... plugin settings are not compatible? what about chris reeds converter?

thanks so much for this info, I had always just assumed it wouldn't work ... there's really no comparable freeware batch conversion on OSX !

Thanks so much. Had a look at it - must be a great tool!

Though, it seems to be a converter only for AU settings. Do you (or does someone else who reads this) know if it works for
Logic OS9 settings (VST&Logic Plugs) Logic OSX settings (AU&Logic Plugs)
conversion as well?

are you sure ?

Cause I can't even drag and drop like that a regular aiff or wav file...have you tried recently ?

and What do you set in the preferences exactly ?

By gigga file I mean gigastudio file, kontakt loads them fine but im wondering for files like those.. soundfont, akai etc
