SSL 360 with non-SSL MIDI controller - possible?2025-12-11T18:41:26+00:00Is it somehow possible to use the SSL 360 mixing console software with another MIDI controller than the SSL ones (like UC-1, UF-1...)?
Has anybody an idea to achieve this?
Btw i'm on MAC.... kinkajouhttps://www.kvraudio.com/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=43369

I have a UF1 (also on a Mac) and to my knowledge, the 360 software only works with the dedicated SSL hardware controllers and it is not possible to map it to any other MIDI controllers. That said, I have never even thought to try it with another controller.

I'm considering to buy a UC1 (or a UF1, i'm uncertain), but wanted to check out some of the SSL 360 functionalities beforehand, preferably with a MIDI controller... since always using the mouse is meh
Hi, I can't seem to find it, but I'm pretty sure I saw a video on YouTube showing a guy controlling the SSL 360 faders with the faders of a Novation keyboard controller. Maybe it can be done through the DAW, because SSL 360 and the DAW can communicate through MCU protocol (faders, knobs and transport buttons of the 360 and of the DAW can interact through MCU protocol). I guess you can just try by yourself since the SSL 360 software and link plugins are free.
I use SSL 360 and can confirm that via DAW MIDI mapping you certainly can effectively map whatever physical controls you want to whatever controls the corresponding SSL 360-supported plugins expose. So if you have, say, SSL Native Channel Strip 2 on a track, you can use your DAW's midi mapping to assign a fader to that channel strip's fader. Or assign an encoder to the HMF knob, and so on. Same deal as if you're using 360 Link to control a Brainworx SSL strip in 360 or whatnot. Of course, this isn't technically "controlling 360", but rather controlling the plugins 360 links up with - but said adjustments will still reflect in 360 as if you were controlling it directly.
When I'm home later I'll see if there are any more convenient methods than one-at-a-time manual mapping.
EDIT: Yeah I think this is pretty much the only way you can feasibly go about it. Optionally you can set 360 to display your DAW volume controls as the faders instead of the plugin ones, if you wanna unify those. Otherwise it's all manual mapping.
