*** Talking about an advanced synth engine for drums and the like ***
### This has long story. First let me apologize for my buggy English
I will not fix it with Deepl Write, this time.
### I started in 2022 to develop a physical modeling engine
for drums synthesis. From 2022 to 2023 I worked on it almost full time
for many months, 14 months maybe.
I kept working on this project through various iterations,
spinning off 6 different synth engines and relative VST plug-ins,
all usable.
### At EH1/EH2 in 2022 I posted some audio examples:
https://nusofting.net/drum-modelling
Early 2025 some more at:
https://nusofting.net/drum-modelling-examples
Totaling 3 years working on that.
### The questions:
Two or three companies were interested in adopting my models,
but then no products reached the release stage. Mainly because
other samples based products, as the like of Percussion Factory and NI
Session Percussionist, came out during my development.
This year I wanted to make a NUSofting product with these engines,
but I can't find a paradigma/product design that I like.
I'm focused on acoustic modeling sound design, I don't care for
samples libraries replacement and neither for custom built-in sequncer.
I like that the DAW I choose to work with has all the sequencing
features I need.
So what to do????
Here I decided to release for free the EH6 (the most stable one),
I hope someone will help me to decide what to do with it, if it's worth
for further polishing, GUI design, etc.. To a commercially viable
product. But, well, I know it's no more like 10 years ago. The amount
of soft synth products is overwhelming now, fast paced releases and all
that jazz, changed the relationship between devs and musicians (so
called users). Anyway here we go.
You can freely download and use (zero restrictions)
the synth here:
https://nusofting.net/drum-modelling-examples
The zip archive includes:
- Help_and_How_to_install_EH6.pdf
- EH6.dll : VST 64-bit Windows 10/11
- EH6.exe : standalone 64-bit Windows 10/11
- 44 preset files

Oh cool! Thank YOU.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Thank you all. Two things:
1) I should mention that the EH6 is sensitive to note length. Unlike many drum machines, it doesn't just trigger the sound.
Velocity, note length and key tracking (if active) contribute significantly to expression and sound variation.
So you need to learn how to play or program sequences for the EH6.
2) As I wrote before, the audio examples on the website demonstrate at least three variations of the engine: EH2, EH3 and EH6, as well as some EH4. Therefore, you may not get the same sound as in those audio clips by using just the EH6.

Is there a way to compile it for Mac?

Yes but Bernie (the Mac guy here) could not be available before Christmas.

Do you mean the demo clips on the website? For some of them I used EQ and Reveb of Ableton Live. But there is also some kind of reverberation in the plug-in.stanlea wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 11:22 am did you put any effects on the audio samples ? i hear kind of a reverb

OK, so yes some EQ and Reveb just in a few of the clips, some are only the synth output. Could be that in just one of the clip I also used a little delay FX, I should check which one.stanlea wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 10:31 pmYes, the demo clips.liqih wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 11:36 amDo you mean the demo clips on the website? As matter of fact this synth is a laboratory to virtually build acoustic percussive instruments, the need of extra effects is similar to how you would treat a real recording.

feel free to ask questions for any mysterious parameter
