The old RapidComposer 5 beta topic is locked, but all valuable suggestions and discussions are preserved in the forum.

The beta version is available to all RapidComposer owners; this is not a public beta.
Beta versions are generally stable and suitable for serious work, but newly added features may still contain minor issues. Betas include the latest bug fixes and new functionality, often months ahead of the official release.

Download

The download URL is the same as in previous versions.
To access the beta, simply add the word "beta" to the download URL (for example, xyz.php becomes xyzbeta.php).
I'm happy to send the exact URL to any RapidComposer owner upon request (via PM or email).

Installation

Important: The beta uses the same installer as the stable (release) version, so it will overwrite the existing installation.
You can reinstall the stable version at any time if needed.

If you use only the standalone application, it's recommended to:

• rename RapidComposerV6.app before installation on macOS, or
• choose a different Program Files directory on Windows.

Updates

Beta updates will be posted in this topic from time to time.
You can also check for updates directly in RapidComposer under the Support tab by clicking "Check for beta version updates".

for the rc 6 is no thread, but i think the problem can happen on all rc when use windows 11 25h2. when rc is first start there can correct choose midi input device and midi work. after quit rc6 and start again, the midi device can not open. I get same problem that midi device is not correct free with uad console. i report it and they update it. other programs i use work all with 25h2

I still haven't installed 25H2, but I confirm this works well on the previous Windows 11 version. I'll install 25H2 in a few days and will try this.

I like the live play mode. maybe it is possoble to add another live mode that C2 is Part 1 Line 1. C3 is Part 2 Line 1 C4 is Part 3 Line 1 c# depend on octave is then Line 2 . d Line 3 d# Line 4 . I have 8x8 pad. for such pads can also be a option 8 rows are 8 parts and colums can be 8 lines. for 4x4 pads can be 4 parts and 4 lines.

Absolutely good idea, and easy to implement! I'll add this for the next update.

that you not try if shared midi work, because there can read 25h2 should have shared midi: it is not currently in release version. only the insider builts have that. i have only the release version of 25h2

this with the midi is the only problem with RC in 25h2 . so rc is near 99.999% ready for future windows

It's quite inconvenient to save a preset in variations when I want to overwrite it with the same name. To do this, I need to re-enter the same name, maintaining absolute accuracy. I would like to have a command to "overwrite the preset with the same name."

When a phrase isn't a Generator, clicking the Generator tab in the inspector displays a notification that the phrase isn't a Generator. I think it would be convenient to be able to convert a phrase to a Generator in the Generator tab without leaving the tab.

I think the topic of favorite phrases in the browser has been raised for a long time. I don't know why Attila doesn't like this idea, but then maybe we need to implement a search by tags (at least). P.S. And Rhythms too. Well, let's go Progressions ))

I also think Variation Presets should be separated, i.e. Phrase Variation Presets in the Phrase Inspector, and Track Variation Presets in the Track Inspector. Having a certain number of presets mixed into one menu makes selecting and saving them too difficult.

I too would like that in the Phrase Browser. I often want to rename my phrases I'm creating but I have to load them into the Phrase Editor and then resave them OR load them into a composition and then rename and resave, pretty time consuming.

On the master track, you can conveniently move chords by holding down the CMD button. It would be great if you could also move scales, time signatures, and tempos.

It would be nice to have a checkbox "Auto-Apply to master track" in the Chord Selector in the "For Chord Progression" tab.

I love the idea to tag phrases/rhythms/progressions/etc as favorite. I just did not have the time to display a 'heart' button. BTW tagging works for at least 10 years, so you can tag phrases if you right-click on them. You can select and tag multiple phrases/rhythms/scales/progressions/etc. E.g. I added the "like" tag to some phrases. If you enter the expression {like}!="" in the search field, only phrases with the "like" tag are displayed:



I know this is not very user friendly , but I'll improve this shortly.

RapidComposer v6.1b1 is available!

Improvements:

• Live mode 'latch playback' implemented. Stop playback by clicking on the active key
• Live mode keyboard split option added with right split transposition
• Live mode: 1 Bar, 2 Bars, 3 Bars, 4 Bars, 'End of pattern' added to Quantized Trigger options
• New, better organized variations menu. A new setting allows switching between the new menu and the classic hierarchical pop-up menu
• Timecode 'bars.beats.16ths' and 'beats.16ths' formats added; font size and color can be customized
• Stretch selected chords by Shift-dragging the right edge of the selection. This also works without selection: drag the edge beyond other chords
• A single 'creativity' slider added to the Neural Phrase Engine to make it more user friendly, 'expert' settings are still available.
• 'Restore defaults' buttons added for creativity settings in the Neural Phrase Engine

Perhaps it's time to create a field where you can drag and drop audio to automatically detect chords for the master track, like it's done in EZ KEYS 2 TOON TRACKS (Bendmate ), for example )).

Hi Attila - thanks for the new beta release.! (and this new thread )

Been checking the newly added 'Time Format display' options. This below, is the dialog when you now right-click on the Timeline...

1. I think those two leading 'zeros' for the Bar number 0036, are unnecessary clutter.
2. The 'Primary Format' chosen names (i.e. - Bars.Beats.16ths) is displayed correctly in the box for all the first seven entries from the drop-down. However, all other entries/names when selected are never displayed here. For those, it just shows 'Select'. Is this intended.?
3. Duplication of 'Secondary Format' in this dialog (as set by right-clicking on the actual 'Time Display' in the top menu - Main Transport area), gets confusing. You cannot change the 'Secondary Format' here by clicking on 'Select'. Is that intended.? And it never displays the actual chosen 'Secondary Format' type/name (SMPTE 25fps etc..) here anyway, only the numbers. Confusing.

Another issue I've just noticed (not checked in the stable release v6.0.6):- please examine the code for 'Playhead/Cursor' placement along the Timeline (clicking directly in the Timeline) versus the actual Time Display readout, at the top main bar.

- Loaded a Project started in v6.0.6
- I just stretched the Timeline out to 143 bars length and clicked and placed the Playhead at bar 142. The Time Display strangely reads 36.02.01
- If I click and place the Playhead at bar 139, the TD readout is now 35.03.01
- Primary Format is Bar.Beats.16ths
(Ok, that may not be the whole story, as I did do some other 'fiddling' in-between times, that I can't remember exactly - but the above is the essence of it. I don't have any screen-recording facility to show this in real-time... sorry).

Thirdly, some funkiness with UI overall size of RC app when I switched from Windows MME to ASIO in Settings->Audio. Seems it immediately reduced RC's screen real estate to a 'maximum' that it cannot now be altered beyond. I can resize to make the UI even smaller, but only a re-boot of RC will fix the issue... weird.!

Great to now have now established this RC 6 beta topic, and with a fine new release to kick it off!

I'm curious, does this mean the low-level graphics rework is complete?
