Which cheap host for Side-Chain VST ?

Which host does support stereo side-chaining where I can benefit from the new Voxengo Crunchessor VST with true side-chaining ?
This means it must be possible to route 2 stereo channels to one VST plugin. Crunchessor is the first VST I know which can do this.
I have CubaseSX 2.2, but no success here.
I need the host just for this application this means it has to be cheap.

I guess it shouldn't be too surprising that energyXT can do it. Just remember to enable the "ext. sidechain" option on the Crunchessor, and the extra set of stereo ins will show up just fine. Even if it wasn't cheap, eXT would be worth it, but it only costs $50 (okay, so $53.11, but close enough). :)

Audiomulch will do it too (also $50, but Ross Bencina is extremely generous with time limited beta versions).

Thank you all.
Will try AudioMulch when I'm at home.
Unfortunately I can't go to energyXT site (busy,down...?!)
I heard good things about energyXT, but can't test it now.
Both AudioMulch and energyXT will be offered for $50.
What would you suggest to buy (if energyXT Page is up again)?

Podium is out of my price range.

Actually I don't think one should place a $90 host "out of range" when considering $50 hosts, I bet tracktion can handle side chaining too (but I don't know really), and if one of these hosts suits you way better than a $50 host you probably will regret your buy.

Granted, energyXT is a great host too (but I'd myself would probably go for podium).

I've assembled a list for you, and picked the stuff _I_ would consider:

$50 Audiomulch (modular thingy, not released yet, only in beta)
$53 energyXT (modular thingy)
$54 Console Sound Modular Studio (modular thingy)
$80 Tracktion (got its racks feature for wicked routings)
$90 Podium (in-its-own-way-modular thingy)

($106 Aero Studio (modular thingy))

You can do it in Tracktion, but you have to be comfortable with racks and Senderella. At least, that's the only way I got it to work. Then again, I don't know how much easier it is with any of the other hosts.

I will quote the developer about how to do it in podium:

"Yes it is possible. I got it working with the free 'Side Chain Compressor' from Slim Slow Slider:

http://www.ismusic.ne.jp/slim_slow_slider/vst/#sidech

When you import the stereo version of this plugin, Podium will create two input mappings and one output mapping. The first input mapping is the regular input and the second mapping the side chain input. The plugin thus is configured as a global plugin and not an insert plugin, since it needs to be assigned to several tracks. Because the plugin is configured with separate input and output mappings, it is in itself set up as a bus, so on the tracks you assign the input mappings you use the send dial to control the input. "

Fairly straight-forward (since it is the same solution for any buss effect).

stefancrs, to understand me correctly:
$90 for a host is not "really" out of my price range, but the cheaper (and mainly the easier) the better.
Remember: I will need this host ONLY for sidechaining with Crunchessor, nothing else.
But you're right. When I think how much money I spent on Cubase,Wavelab...(+Updates) then $90 is cheap.

Just a thought... If Traktion can handle it with help of Senderella, then can you do it the same way in CuBase SX? Or is there a limitation in SX I'm not aware of.

It took me about two minutes in eXT to get it working. If you include the time it took to look at the Crunchessor manual to realize that I need to click on the ? button, and then the ext. sidechain to enable the extra inputs, then it took three.

And besides all that, eXT is so simple and useful, I'm sure you would find other uses for it to further justify its purchase. I've tried a few other modular hosts, but eXT makes modular accessible to me.

Of course, YMMV, so you should probably just check out the demos (which I believe are available for all of those hosts that stefan listed).

For CubaseSX comeone explained a way with additional LRCS-Surround Group-Channel.
I tried this but with no success.

I think eXT is most of all an extremely useful program, especially combined with SX 2.2 (or 3) (or 1). Not only will it support sidechaining, you can use it as a kind of VST wrapper within Cubase. So you can use it to put together complicated routings with really no trouble, or swap the order of effects without losing all your settings, etc. It's the perfect complement to a well developed but completely hardwired host like Cubase.
