I recommend an absolute beast of a CPU for music production on LGA1700
— Intel Core i5-14600KF (14 cores / 20 threads, up to 5.3 GHz, 24 MB cache).

The main issue with this processor before 2024 was high power consumption and voltage spikes, which could cause silicon degradation over time and eventually lead to CPU failure.

However, in new BIOS versions released in 2024 (and now also 2026), this issue has been fully fixed thanks to Intel microcode 0x12B.

By default, at 5.3 GHz turbo boost, the CPU can consume up to 180 W, which is very hot — even 240 mm AIO liquid cooling may struggle, with temperatures reaching 85 °C+.

Through trial and error, I tuned the CPU in the BIOS so that it runs at the same 5.3 GHz, but with only ~100 W power draw instead of 180 W.
At 100 W, even a single-tower air cooler with 4–6 heat pipes is enough.

My settings:
ASUS motherboard → BIOS 3811
Profile → Intel Default Settings
CPU Voltage → 1.19 V
CPU Load-Line Calibration → Level 5
CPU Power Management Control → IA CEP → Disabled

Results:
Power consumption reduced from 180 W → 100 W
Temperature under 100% CPU load: up to 63 °C (instead of 85 °C+)
Same performance
