Hi everyone,

I’d like to share a small free tool I’ve been working on that has now been officially released.

This is an input plugin for AIMP (audio player) that enables playback of RX2 / REX / RCY files, including slice handling, tempo/BPM from file headers, and embedded metadata.
Just to clarify upfront: this is not a VST/AU/AAX plugin, but a plugin for an audio player host.

The plugin is now officially published in the AIMP plugin catalog and also available as tagged releases on GitHub.

My main motivation was to have a lightweight way to browse and audition REX-based libraries in the same way as regular WAV files, without loading a full DAW or sampler. In my workflow, I often audition loops directly from a file manager, let AIMP handle seamless looping in the background, then stop playback via media keys once I’ve found the loop I need.

Technically, the plugin:
• uses the official REX SDK
• follows the REX compliance test protocol
• supports RX2 / REX / RCY formats
• exposes slice and tempo information provided by the files

Thanks to the AIMP team and Reason Studios for their support.

If you try it out, let me know how it works for you. Any feedback or issue reports are very welcome.

Would love to see a version for foobar2000

Thanks for the reply! At the moment plugin was built mainly to support my own workflow in AIMP, I'm not actively using foobar2000.
I won't promise anything, but I can keep it in mind if there's enough interest.
