Corona 5.x served as our flagship version from 2015 to 2023, receiving continuous updates and full support throughout its 8-year lifespan. To ensure a smooth transition, we extended download availability until January 2026, over 2 years beyond the Corona 6.x release, during which time discounted upgrade pricing was offered to existing customers. Corona 6.x represents the current generation of Corona and is available at standard pricing. I would recommend avoiding this company like the plague. Took away any option to upgrade to the latest version of this OR download it since my download links expired and won't send them again.

You're absolutely right. I have Corona 6, but it's the last time. I had Discovery Pro 7, and now I can't download the installer for something I paid for because it says, “Support and downloads for these products have ended.” Never again with this developer.

It is utterly bizarre. The people most likely to send money your way are those who have already done it once. OK, upgrades don't net as much but it's better than zip. And certainly better than annoying just about anyone who has ever spent money with you. It's also a good way at removing any word-of-mouth recommendations.

So it's no surprise these announcements are pretty much tumbleweed aside from people pointing out the problems with DiscoDSP. And in such a congested market, commercial suicide. Corona has a neat feature in the waveform mixing and the sound is decent enough, but not spectacularly different from many other synths on the market with far less customer-hostile policies.

Is what allowed?

If you mean denying downloads after a while or disallowing upgrades, then there's nothing that's going to stop a dev doing it. Toontrack time-limited the upgrades from Superior Drummer to v3.

But it's not smart business unless you've got a runaway winner product, which is why so few devs do it like this.

Yes denying downloads after a while or disallowing upgrades. Well then i'm not going to buy anything new from this company again

When IK Multimedia charged for re-downloading installers/libraries back in the day (thankfully no longer a thing with them nowadays) I learned to download and store *all* my installers on an external drive (actually, two for safety) in case nonsense like this happens again

Me too. But it is also easy to forget. There are a few things where I forgot to download the Windows version before realising I could bung them on a slave machine were they discontinued.

I also had a situation where the backup drive with the IK downloads on it was the one that flamed out. That was when I started a belt-and-braces drive for things that I knew would be tough to download in the future (and the samples were installed anyway).

But, then again, with IK you got a clear warning: download once and no more without payment, at least until they relaxed that policy. With DiscoDSP, the downloads used to be there. Then they weren't. Then they were again. And now, definitely, they aren't. But if you're not paying a lot of attention to forum traffic and just making tunes, how are you meant to know?

Still on version 5. Staying there, as things stand. Feel the same as others here.

First, the price for the upgrade has increased by about 230% since the release.
$29.99 -> $49.99 -> $99.99

And now:
"...Corona 6.x upgrade pricing available since 2023 has now concluded."

discoDSP repeatedly stands out for its bizarre and not exactly customer-friendly decisions...

A shame and incomprehensible!

At least the upgrade option from v5 to v6 has now been extended until June 2026.

I don’t have anything from this company and never will after reading this. In fact I won’t click on any threads about this company anymore. Nice job discoDSP! Driving away both your customers and potential customers. I hope you go out of business.
