I was woking on some new efx chains for and hour or so yesterday and playing around with the NightSky and Cloudburst verbs by Strymon. Anyway, I ended up turning what I was working on into a little track this morning. It's rough, with almost no automation, but I'm kind of liking that. There's a few of the SWAM instruments in here in played with a ROLI Seaboard I had sitting in my closet for about 10 years. I started using the ROLI on some of the tracks for my upcoming album in March. I'm having a lot of fun with it, but regretting I let it sit in the closet for so long.

It starts at full volume right out of the gate without my usual intro so volume warning.

Yes, the song starts off quite loud, but also epically urban. The scene
I associate with it is a kind of abandoned factory hall steeped in history
– life, emotions, pain, and passion – just a bit melancholically ethereal.
Right at the end, you can even hear the footsteps leaving the hall.

Beautiful, epic instrumental! :tu:

The drums breathe nicely. Such a peaceful vibe but also edgy So stretched out. The pitch bends suit the piece nicely.

It's got an oriental/Chinese sound, particularly with the pitch-bent Zhonghu-like tones. The percussion works well, both sonically, and as a rhythmic device. The growly bass and reverbed piano complete the audio cocktail. I think this would make a good piece of scoring music for a scene In a SciFi movie where the camera sets the scene by slowly panning across a devastated landscape.

Good work :)

Starts off downbeat---melancholic --- sets the scene -- sense of mystery and exploration (in my mind, of a decayed landscape). It's almost made for picture.... very well done

I think I've said this before. But I always love your interpretations of my songs. Much appreciated

Thanks seismic1, I really like the roli for playing those bends, especially the half-steps.

Peaceful, meditative and somehow post-apocalyptic dystopian all at the same time!

Really interesting combination of musical ideas in there!

Good soundtrack.. made me feel like I was lost alone in a deserted industrial facility. Excellent composition and arrangement. I liked the orchestration and soundscape

Yeah, the imagery it conjures and emotionally it's a weird one. I'm liking the idea of working in this manner every now and then in the future—trying to get 3:00+ minutes of music in 3 or so hours with no preconceived idea of where I'm going. I didn't labor over any of the decisions, which really isn't my usual style. I don't think I would do it all the time, but it's an interesting exercise.

I get that! I often just sit at the piano and play...see what comes out!

Sometimes 15 minutes later I have a fully sketched out idea and everything flows so fast!

Sometimes I have a possible little nugget after 30 minutes that I save till later and hope I can work out how to develop it properly!

Sometimes I have absolutely nothing! :help: :help: :help:
