Hey everyone! I figured I'd reach out on here since I've found valuable advice for my own personal gear and software stuff in the past involving Music Production with Logic Pro. Let me describe this current problem that I am having. My wife does voice over work for a living and had recently upgraded her equipment. This is what we are currently using for her setup.
Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen (newest one)
Shure SM7B (Gain-hungry mic, but amazing quality)
Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-1

She has a somewhat acoustically treated closet that we are using as well. As you might here, there is some sneaky sneaky white noise in there that... well.. we were hoping upgrading and using a cloudlifter would help with. Turns out, it hasn't, and actually some of her recordings are worse than they were back when she didn't have a cloudlifter and was recording at maximum gain on the interface.

It's proven to be quite annoying to say the least, doing what has been recommended for the type of work she does and come to find there's just this really tinny noise floor that we're hearing. It would be awesome to find something that is rid of it. I also have a feeling that this will be brought up, we ARE using phantom power / 48v on the interface while using the CL-1.

Any advice would help, thank you all!

SM7B requires at least a 60 dB gain preamp, and most Focusrite are 55 dB.
- I had a Twintrak Pro that had 60 dB for this reason
- I think ISA one is 60 dB

When expanding with ADAT preamps all I found Focusrite were 55 dB, so went Audient which has 60 or more.

Try this FetHead maybe to boost a little without adding too much noise

Take power from phantom.

If that is not better than CL-1 better preamp into line input of your interface is probably way to go.
- so Audient with 60-70 or SSL Pure Drive 65 dB
- or getting an ADAT rack for those
