The vibe is about an individual scratching to stay free of the things that others impose. The lyrics and their delivery are ragged raw. While I get that some will say this is not ok, I think it is the only way to scream in the face of fashion and tyranny without becoming the very thing you detest.

Background
I was co-working on this at the same time as my last personal release. Sadly, the wheels kinda fell off when the other person decided that their singing was too cringe to live with and tried to can everything at the last moment. I looked into other singers but no takers (to be fair most request posts were never published by mods - not a KVR thing). I did consider redoing all the vocals but I did not feel that I would add more than was lost from these 'in the moment" vibes.

In a sea of slop, AI or otherwise, strikingly human is the only alternative. Humanity, especially human frailty, is the very thing that AI and all the gridification that has overtaken music cannot deliver. We cannot expect to siphon off fans from Trailer Swift or The Prodigy or whoever with shiny slop. Best to be so very different that the few looking for humanity will connect because of that rarity. It is a thing people will get or not.

Being me, the way to work these songs up was to lean right into the last time such a thing occurred and make like Arrietty Clock with the music I grew up on. So it ended up with a strange mutant child of Goth and early EBM with shades of Metal, and even the Garage that became Grunge. If I were to make a shortlist, it would be: The Sisters of Mercy, The Neon Judgement, The Clash/B.A.D., and Dinosaur Jr. Therefore, the music is my own form of scratching & screaming.

For the gear obsessed:
Everything was done in Reason 13.
All instruments and just about all effects are stock Reason devices to keep conpatibility. The few non-reason things are some AdHd Leveling Tool compressor (for Rhythm Bus), QRange for Master EQ, and some of my own specialist VST like Looser for Tape movement in the masters.

Love the disclaimer. LOL. Good to know. Anyway, this is really great stuff. It's different. And these days, that's not an easy thing to pull off.

All in all, enjoyed the listen. So who exactly is doing the vocals in the final mix? Still your friend who bailed on you?

I felt the vox were good for the situation, but I also know that in these places sooooo many act like anything not perfectly gridded is an insult. So I took the gamble that maybe I have normalized the vocal delivery from being inside it and covered that off. Maybe that is wrong. I fully back what I say about humanity and its importance.

The whole deal that let me release this was to hide who did the vocals. I did not want to deny the person existed and what they did. Hence "Secret Singer". So no, I will not say, unless he gives permission, or is D.E.D. dead, out of respect. Even tho I think he is very wrong.

I can be heard a few times, like the spoken parts on Governor's Gate and in some backings that you probably won't pick as I wanted it to still sound like SS.
