Acedia Audio releases Kerosene. Featuring saturation, compression, noise & more

Image

Hi all,
I am Deivids from Acedia Audio and I would like to personally introduce our newest plugin, Kerosene.

Saturation, destruction and control made to be instinctive
One of the main goals when designing and developing Kerosene was to allow you to be able to rein in your audio just as quickly as you could add saturation and/or potentially destroy the audio in the process.
Through easy to use compression, autogain and filtering Kerosene provides the tools which you need to bring your sound back to a reasonable level (should you wish to ;)).
Allowing you to experiment and go all out on the grit and general saturations sweetness, knowing that you are always in control.

What can Kerosene actually do?
  • Four distinct saturation models (Soft clip, Hard clip, Tube & Tape).
  • A color control to allow for fine tune adjustment of the saturation.
  • Noise engine with adjustable reactive dynamics.
  • Intuitive compression with warmth control which enables a second stage of saturation.
  • High and low pass filters.
  • Volume control of the input and output levels, made even easier using the Autogain.
  • Reactive and artistic visualiser to see all of your modulation.
  • Dry/wet mix and bypass controls.
  • Wide range of factory presets.
Controls and visuals which communicate
Another essential goal for any Acedia Audio plugin is an interface and controls which reward play and interaction.
I love how the tactility of hardware can create a conversation between musician and technology. Therefore, I want to breathe as much of that tactile feel and life into the user experience.
Controls will light up when you interact with them, and the visualiser responds to every action you take, creating a dialogue between the plugin and you.

Try it for free today!
We also have options for a lifetime license at $69 or a rent to own plan for $6 a month for 12 months

As an extra thank you we have also made our first ever plugin, Tremolo Viola available as a free download!

I am really excited for folks to get their hands on the plugins I have worked so hard on!
I would also love to hear your feedback, experiments and thoughts <3

Thank you,

Looks neat. Personally I think that de-/emphasis EQ is crucial for saturation plugins and it seems your EQ works on the output signal as opposed to shaping what is going into the saturation stages?

And are the any measures to alleviate aliasing?

Thanks so much! I am really glad you like the look of it :)

The low and high cut filters are actually set between the dirt and saturation stages (if you would like more detail on the full DSP chain it is available in the plugin manual), this means your input signal + any generated dirt within Kerosene are passed through the filters first then the saturation. This way we can eliminate the unwanted fuzzing from low-frequency IMD.

As for the aliasing, oversampling is in place in combination with half-band polyphase IIR filters across all four models. On top of this each model has its own considerations to achieve a unique and quality sounding result.

I appreciate you bringing these up though! These are the kind of details I want to make sure are communicated well. Also if you get a chance to try the plugin out, I would love to hear your experience <3
