First, thanks to the people who created this software.

I happened to find ACE-Step just some few days ago. It is an AI music generator that you install in your own computer. You can use it to

🎵 Text to Music Describe it → Get a song
🎨 Cover Restyle an existing song
🖌️ Repaint Fix one section of a song
🧱 Lego Add layers to a backing track
🔬 Extract Pull out individual instruments
🎹 Complete Add accompaniment to vocals

You can use it like a Push the button and get a song -style of tool, or you can guide it to produce music like you want music to be. It doesn't require heavy duty hardware, my ryzen 5 3600, nvidia RTX 3070 8GT, 16 Gt machine worked, once I dropped from 3840x2160 display resolution to 1920x1080, to get free GPU vram.
I don't record any instruments live, I construct my music.

And you are sure you haven´t been paid to tell us this story??

Certainly I promote this software, not because of some agreement with the developers, but because the software deserves it. I have high hopes that it becomes an often used tool in my music production!

And adjust the topic title. It's free with restrictions.

If he was getting paid, he’d have at least included a link.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Why would any music producer use a crutch that cripples them?

Post

Why shouldn't a music producer use a tool that improves their work?

Ace Step is nice. It can give you a few kickstarter ideas for sure. I would need more control though to even consider to use it in my pipeline. But everyone is different.

MIT license, no restrictions from what i can see.

Git hub only has the source code. If you have the knowhow to make the binary from source code, you can indeed make it for free.
If you need a binary (installer) you have the restrictions mentioned on this homepage: https://acestep.io/pricing
.
Of course if you are satisfied having the source code you don't have the need to look any further or reflect on other peoples ability to make a binary of source code.
.
I'm fine. I have the Ace-studio, one-time perpetual license.
(It was a deal, paying 2 years subscriptions at once).

Post

That’s the online version with a subscription, yeah.

But there’s also a free ComfyUI version. You don’t need to compile anything, just install the Ace Step node, download the weights from Hugging Face, and place them in the correct folders. After that it should work fine.
I’ve got it running on my setup as well.

The model is as told under an MIT license. As can be read here too: https://huggingface.co/ACE-Step/Ace-Step1.5

There is a misuderstanding, I had the same problem.

The original website is: acemusic.ai :dog:

You can sign up for free and even download the app. :phones:

Acestep.io is a fork and not from the original developer (as far as I understand) :scared:

There is yet another layer of confusion. Since there is also Ace Studio, which started as a tool like SynthesizerV, an AI vocal tool ...

Yees, somehow the developers site didn't get a mention in my post. I'm speaking about

Me and my comp seem to be at the low levels of what this software needs. Cheap ways to increase available videoram would be nice (realism might be another matter)
- support of 2 or even more display cards, both cuda
- support of 2 or even more display cards, one no cuda, cheap, for display only, and the other(s) cuda
- take temporarily all display card memory for AI
- balancing the free vram partitioning according to compute loads
- special display drivers with less color
I don't record any instruments live, I construct my music.

Say goodbye to local models because memory and processor prices keep skyrocketing and it's likely that they won't be available to home users soon. Sony even stopped shipping SD cards. Everything goes to AI data centers.
