So I'm old AF, no doubt my ears are shot especially in the higher freqs after years of hammering them with heavy metal guitar playing and in later years my synth based crap so I may be compensating for deficiencies in that range.

Obviously this is mixed to suite my ears on my Beyerdynamic DT 770'S but how bad does the mix sound to your ears on your equipment?

The track itself is just a bit of silliness that makes good backing for my keyboard lead playing practice as I strive to become at least a halfway decent player before old age takes my fingers away.

Any feedback would be appreciated no matter how brutal. Sorry I don't have Soundcloud or any streaming service, it's just a link to a file on my google drive.

I listened and came to the conclusion that it's definitely music.

First Point - great listen...that opening bass riff is one serious earworm!

Second Point - overall the mix is very listenable to me...nothing that made it unpleasant / tiring on the ear at all.

Frequency spectrum is pretty balanced I would say, with maybe a tiny bit too much low end, but then...it is bass riff led! I might want a little bit more oomph in the mids, but again I'm talking tiny tweaks here.

If it was me (this is just initial reaction / opinion) I might experiment with narrowing the low frequencies in that bass riff...don't mind the higher bits sweeping L & R, but maybe the deeper parts of it need to be more tightly central to support everything else?

When the high riffs / improvs enter, the bass riff loses a bit of power - centralising it's weight might help + maybe pushing those higher layers a little wider + a little more towards the back of the mix? It could all do with being a bit more 3D...all quite upfront at times?

All small points - good listen!

Thank you so much for the very kind and useful feedback and for taking the time out of your day to post your thoughts! I will endeavor to return the favor

I will take your recommendations into consideration and try to improve the mix.

I'm stuck between not being able to trust my own ears these days and not being able to justify the expense of hiring a mixing/mastering agent so these comments are very very helpful, thanks again! :tu:
