First time poster, long time DSP guy.

I've been meaning to do this for ages, but was always too busy / too tired / too lazy... and now probably a bit late to the party. Anyway, figured I should stop putting it off and just put something out there.

As a first effort, I decided to go for something small and settled on modeling a bunch of guitar stompboxes.

Here (https://www.knuckledraggindsp.com/products/kn2/) you can find a "preview" pack of those efforts.

It's not much, and it's Windows-only for now, but I figured I'd share it anyway for some public scrutiny while I keep working on it.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

The effects should do well. A highly adjustable fuzz, such as the Zvex Fuzz Factory, would probably be well received. 2 knob distortions are a bit tough because NAM and Tonex already do them excellently. What those lack is adjustability.

If you're looking for users/testers then typically posting to Effects (or Instruments for synths, perhaps Guitars in this case; pick the one that seems more relevant, although "Effects" is probably more widely followed one) will get you more eyeballs, as this particular forum is more for DSP developers to discuss stuff like algorithms and such.

Hi Eric, Mystran,

Thank you both for your insight!

Glad to hear there's hope for me yet!
I was definitely thinking of making the models more adjustable, with the idea of making the plugins "feel" more like a modded stompbox that lets you tinker with its internals to some reasonable degree. I've already extended the Fuzz controls for some offline tests, and I plan to do the same for the other boxes once I deal with more pressing tasks.
Since the base "two-knob" variants were always intended as giveaways, I'll probably keep them as a separate line or as a freeware/demo version of the extended ones, if that makes sense.

Thanks for the tip! To be honest, I wasn’t really sure where to post this or what to expect. It felt a bit out of place in Guitars and a bit undercooked for Effects. Maybe one of the moderators will be kind enough to move it to a more appropriate spot if they see fit.

Yes, an extended fuzz ought to do well, particularly if the internal mods are unique and out of the ordinary. I would recommend you put less effort into the distortion, overdrive, and boost, since those probably won't do as well as the fuzz, chorus, and phaser.

Guitars would be perfect. Even though there's discussion of physical guitars, amps, and pedals, this forum is still primarily for software, and software versions of those things would fit right in.

Don't worry about it being "undercooked". As long as you're upfront that it's work in progress and appreciate betatesting and feedback ppl have that in mind anyhow.
