Hi, we want to introduce you all to PAM – "Pattern-based Audio Mapping"

This sampler plugin (VST3/AU/CLAP/Standalone) goes hard on modulation and sequencing, with dedicated modulators available to each parameter, the ability to modulate from any cell's envelope. There's options for a slicer, a looper, and even a tracker… some of you will love it – some people might not get it ;)

It's available from https://map.audio (https://map.audio), it's $150 perpetual but also available RTO. There's a seven-day trial. Any questions? We're here in the thread!

Feature List

Cell Grid: Eight independent cells with samplers, effects, and modulation. Route modulation between cells and build complex signal flows.
Cell Views: Four views per cell: Sampler controls, Sample Browser, Pattern Editor, and Effects chain. Switch instantly between them.
CtrlAll: Global macro controls and A/B crossfader. Link parameters across all cells with per-cell exclusions.
Slicer: Slice samples into segments with automatic transient detection. Sequence slices with the dedicated slice patterns.
Pattern: Step sequencer with note, pitch, slice, and stretch lanes — plus a piano roll for poly mode. Draw and resize notes across the full pitch range with scale filter and velocity lane.
Tracker: Tracker-style pattern view across all cells. Program notes, velocity, probability, and retrigger in a vertical timeline.
Mixer: Mix all eight cells with volume, pan, mute, and solo. Per-cell effects chain with EQ, Filter, Delay, Compressor, and more.
Looper: Record up to eight tracks with overdub, external input, and drag-and-drop. Save eight variations with bar-synced switching.
Vary: Per-parameter randomization with adjustable range and probability. Add controlled variation to any knob.
LFO Modulation: Six global LFOs with multiple shapes and tempo sync. Map to any parameter with depth and bipolar control.
Envelope Follower: Per-parameter envelope followers with adjustable attack and release. Sidechain from any cell output.
Randomisation: Generate random signals and setups for specific parts of PAM – randomize all LFOs at once, all envelope followers, all sequencers, and others.

Ooh, I've always wanted to see someone tackle sample manipulation in a deep but playable way. Tempted to just go ahead and get it now but will test tomorrow.

Looks interesting. What's the copy protection? Phone home or offline?

There's an offline option

That’s a really a interesting plugin, it’s almost a complete sample manipulation tool, just needs granular.

It does have a granular engine, so repitching-without-changing-the-length and changing-the-length-without-changing-the-pitch but if you're thinking granular clouds with feedback, no PAM doesn't do that, yet(?). I think there's enough to play with without needing that though :)

So far, I've only played with the trial for a few hours, but here are some initial impressions:

The pattern system is unusually rich: per‑cell step sequencers with lanes for note, pitch, slice, and stretch, a piano roll for poly mode, and a tracker‑style global view, so you can sculpt rhythmic and melodic movement at multiple levels. The modulation architecture (per‑parameter sequencers, six global LFOs, envelope followers, “Vary” randomization, and CtrlAll macro morphing) makes it feel like a small modular environment built specifically for sample madness.

I have and regularly use: TAL-Sampler, Rando 2, SideTrack, and Sourcelab. All of these are very different from PAM.

I'm going to start messing with it as a "sampler brain" and work on resampling with the above mentioned plugins. :)

The pattern system…
Can you start/play patterns using midi notes or it just plays while syncing to the DAW?

I haven't tried yet, but I don't think so. Your best bet is to grab the trial and dig into it. :)

so it is possible to use a sequenzerlane for any parameter you wish to use one ?

Not that i wanted to use super high amounts of sequenzer lanes, just free choice.

Have you tryed the Looper ? can we route Audio from inside the host into it ?
(they refer to "Audio Interface" in the FAQ, or somewhere else)
Has the Looper some sync-recording options ?

You can create a sequencer for literally any parameter. Just right-click and select the sequencer option on the right. All parameters can be modulated by the Env(elope of another cell output), Vary (trigger-based randomisation/movement), LFOs and a Sequencer from that right-click popup.

The Looper records the cell->channel, sync'd to the transport for 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 bars, or the normal sync'd divisions you might see, from 1/32triplet to 1/2dotted.

Yes you can use MIDI notes to trigger cells, even as well as having an event sequence at the same time.

Each Cell has a 'Poly' note input toggle in its header bar as well.

That sounds good.

Ok, synced for internal recording

But there is also an option to record Audio from outside.
I would guess it will be a synced recording too ?....just guessing. ( would be my preference)

Thank You !
