After installing on Ubuntu 25.10, starting Ubuntu from the icon nothing happens.

Finally after running ./bitwig-studio the reason appears.

A CPU which supports the AVX2 instruction set is required to run Bitwig Studio (since version 6.0)

So yes the release notes
https://downloads.bitwig.com/6.0/Release-Notes-6.0.html

But.. the PC used is Sandy bridge from around 2012. with 32GB DDR3, PCI-e 3.0 and a SATA SSD, it runs most of things faster than a 2024 Notebook with 64GB DDR4 and 1TB PCI-4.0 SSD except for grpahics But Bitwig 1 to 5 always ran flawless and sufficient to test plugins and anything else.
The software on the notebook often even starts annoyingly slow. Not so on the ancient PC.

Why are the companies making older hardware obsolete. They could have added some workaround library for non-supported CPU's or just disable some features in bitwig instead of divorcing older hardware.

Much of the software world has decided that AVX2 is widely enough available that it is an acceptable default now and that users of older hardware must upgrade. Audio software is one of the industries that can most effectively use AVX2, so devs want it.

Had to upgrade my i7-3770 because of that. Now I have i7-7700 and I feel like, for the first time in bitwig, this cpu is having hickups.
