Hey everyone,

If you've got old Akai disk images, SoundFont libraries, or classic MOD files sitting around, I put together a few free browser-based tools to help you extract the samples and build usable kits from them.

**AKAI EXTRACT** — Pull samples from Akai S1000/S3000/S5000/S6000/MPC disk images
https://azopsoft.com/apps/akaixtrc (https://azopsoft.com/apps/akaixtrc)

**SF2XTRC** — Extract samples from SoundFont SF2 files
https://azopsoft.com/apps/sf2xtrc (https://azopsoft.com/apps/sf2xtrc)

**MODEXTRACT** — Extract samples from MOD/XM files
https://azopsoft.com/apps/modextract (https://azopsoft.com/apps/modextract)

All run entirely in your browser — nothing uploads to a server. Just drag your files in and get the samples out.

Each app also comes with collections gathered from archive.org so you can jump right in and start exploring.

Feedback welcome!

Cheers

Hey, thanks for sharing. Question for you - I have a large collection of old AKAI format samples that have been extracted to .WAV

Many of the samples end in -L.wav or -R.wav when the samples are two parts of a stereo whole.

My question is - do you have any tools that can intelligently reassemble those back to stereo files?

I've used AI code generators in conjunction with FFmpeg and I've gotten pretty close... But it still requires a lot of handholding. It can't work completely in batch (which is critical because I'm talking about thousands and thousands of samples in hundreds of folders.)

Anyhow, any idea how to deal with those?

What I want is a tool that will only operate when there is both a -L and -R. I want it to join them into a stereo file and then delete the two mono files.

Hopefully you have or know of something that can handle this.

I'm sure you've encountered the same thing. How did you handle it?
