Does Anybody Make A Synth Lead Generator?

Okay, I've finally reached my breaking point.
Here's my situation.
I am a crappy keyboard player. I'd love to play like Keith Emerson but that's a pipe dream. I'll come up with a synth lead I want to do but I can't play it. So I have to type it into the piano roll. It's very tedious.
So this is what I'm looking for.
Something where I can type in the following information:
Key Signature
Scale (Lydian, Dorian, etc)
Time Signature
Number Of Measures
Style (rock, soul, etc.)
Note Length Range: (Longest note quarter note, shortest 16th)
And then this thing generates the MIDI notes of a riff for me that I can copy and paste into my piano roll. I can then tweak any notes I don't like.
Does such an animal exist?

Try this: https://midigen.app/melody-generator/

(Also keep in mind that instead of typing in MIDI notes one at a time in the piano roll, we can also bring the tempo way down to wherever is comfortable, play the solo in real time, and then do any correcting or tidying up in the piano roll after the fact...)

I think Melodya should tick most of the boxes (no style selection afaik). I own it and it can become pretty deep. Maybe a tad too much. That’s the reason I don’t use it often. But it’s fun and I like the results.

I never use the piano roll for solo parts, even though there are some advantages to using it. I use the staff view so I can think in a more musical way (for myself at least) and see those notes in the way I imagine.

Ah, staff view. I am so used to working with Finale (now discontinued) that Cubase is a foreign animal to me when it comes to staff view.Examigan wrote: Tue May 19, 2026 10:21 pm I never use the piano roll for solo parts, even though there are some advantages to using it. Yep, I got used to using it that way, and adding automation afterwards, such as vibrato and filter cutoff, etc. All the songs and other examples on my Soundcloud page are done that way.

The Zebra 3 OSC is great. How the hell did you get the drums to not sound like synth drums?

Thanks, I don’t have the song in the DAW atm to check, but I think I used a decent amount of compression on the kick and snare. Reverb helps too.wagtunes wrote: Tue May 19, 2026 10:57 pm The Zebra 3 OSC is great. How the hell did you get the drums to not sound like synth drums?

I'd like to play like Jan Hammer or Brian Auger but nobody will let me....
Funny, Yesterday I was playing around with an old freeware standalone 'Universal Music Machine' that kinda did what you want but with more control over note attributes (no styles) plus making multiple tracks with chord options if desired then output to MID File...

I just finished this garage rock song. The 16th note parts of the sitar lead were entered by hand. And even some of the other 8th note parts I had to do in pieces because of mistakes.

I just checked on that.wagtunes wrote: Tue May 19, 2026 10:57 pm The Zebra 3 OSC is great. How the hell did you get the drums to not sound like synth drums?
The snare, toms, and kick drum presets in Zebra3 have the DAW EQ (separate for each of course).
The kick has a compressor on it.
The snare has an instance of MCharmVerb on it, but no compressor.
On the Master bus there is a bit of MCharmVerb added (for an overall effect), and it has Wave Breaker.
