from 2006 - I made a video of this as well

Fascinating. I like to record little bits and pieces but never a 20 minute journey like this. And I never considered layering multiple "takes" on top of each other. The recording is remarkably clear. I always struggle with either the wind or the low hum of car traffic in the background. Did you do much eqing?

Quite a pleasant listen.

thanks, glad you liked it. It is about 20 years old so I can't remember much about it other than I recorded using core sound binaurals into a sony mini disc - that minidisc was fantastic and I would still use it if it had not developed a faint whistle sound. The core sound mics were ok as well

I probably rolled off some low end and that would have been it. I would have clipped the mics to my collar or front of my tshirt / whatever I was wearing and I used to use home made windshields back then I think

All very crude technique that is for sure - but somehow the sound ended up really good. This is another track from around the same time with exactly the same setup https://apondinthestream.bandcamp.com/t ... s-the-road
