Write automation value at playhead position?

This is such a simple thing but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do it. ChatGPT says it's possible but then it talks about menu commands that don't exist!

What I want to do is:

1. Create an automation lane for a plugin parameter, ie gain
2. Set the playhead to a time position
3. Set the parameter value inside the plugin, ie set the gain to -6db
4. Write the value of the plugin parameter to the automation lane at the current playhead position

Is this possible in Bitwig?
