1) When is Reaper 8.0 due?
2) Are they bringing native support for Ableton Link?

What difference does a number make?

Oh! You might be trying to maximize the $60 non-commercial license price. That's understandable.

As for the other question, I have no idea.

I heard in September. No native support for Ableton Link, but Suno support will be built in.

No Ableton Link, no interest. Figure it comes in a big version update.

September seems a bit early, given we're only at 7.76 at the moment. At least I'm hoping so, my license will need renewing at v8.0 😀

The closest Reaper gets to big version update is the whole-number updates. Even then I think they only change when they get to x.99 😀

Not necessarily. The final version of Reaper 6 was v6.83. https://www.reaper.fm/download-old.php?ver=6x

I stand corrected. Still hoping we get to 7.99 before I have to pay up 😀

The release of a new major version is not related to the current version numbers. To be honest it doesn’t even seem to be related to major features either, as they often release huge changes in a minor version increment.

The most noticeable change between major versions has always been the new theme in my experience.

Hopefully for R8 we get away from the purely functional UI choices towards more aestetically-driven choices, although I don’t have much hope for it.
