I currently find myself in a very difficult situation, due to various circumstances that I would really rather not divulge at the moment.
Suffice to say, I have been barred by my ex-family of any access to my belongings, including computer and music equipment. What I am left with is my iPad 9th gen. And while I still love this tablet and think it’s powerful enough to get me through my days, the size of the screen does cause some issues with my eyes. Typing is also a pita on the touchscreen.
Anyway, was just wondering f someone has an old Windows 10 laptop that’s all but past it. Perhaps it has a few bad knocks, some scratches on the screen, or has to be plugged in the entire time it’s being used.
Basically, something you want rid of, but can’t be bothered to take it to the tip.
It would, of course, have to work. It needn’t be too powerful (i3 or quad-core would be fine). No need for a huge amount of ram, and a spinning drive is fine.
Hopefully it would be able to give me access to the internet and not fall apart under light load. I would also like to run some basic word-processing and even play some (much) older games. If I could run a couple of instances of MASSIVE (not X) in an old copy of Ableton Live Lite, then that would be great.
It’s been years since I owned a Windows machine, so have no real idea whether this is even workable in 2026.
It would have to be in the UK as I really want to avoid any import fees. I will pay for all that’s needed for packing and posting, and depending on the laptop in question, and the time of the month, I will be able to add some more on top…though not much (Currently unemployed, and for a while at least, I am unemployable).
