Styles are a new important concept introduced in Orion Platinum 5.8. A pattern and a preset can now be stored together as a Style. This means, you can share complete sequences between songs, and mix different stuff together more easily. If you load a drum style for instance, the sample data, all settings and a pattern is loaded. Thus with one click you can create or modify a complete groove or sequence in your song. Apart from composing this feature is essential for using Orion live on stage as well. Orion ships with styles for each internal tone generator, so you can get started instantly.

This seems like an interesting concept.

That would be cool to have in eXT. I bet Jorgen will come out with something similar knowing him.

My question is... how are these 'Styles' similar or different than 'Channel Presets' in FLS (except for the fact note data won't save... guess you'd have to save a 'Score file as well)?

Styles are basically patterns that are saved with information. That is the notes, preset and all automation is saved. You can then load this up, at any tempo (for the specific synth/drum rack) and mix diff styles. ie a D+B drum pattern with a jazz piano riff, at any tempo and fully editable.

Sounds interesting and given how much the patterns themselves are tied to the generator in Orion it makes sense.

I can't see how it could be implemented in other hosts however. Or maybe my imagination is just not kicking in at the moment.
