What's the simplest/quickest/most intuitive way of adding midi gating (trance gating) and midi arpeggiation to track in Sonar 4?

Are there MFX apps available for this? Is there a technique I should know about? Is EnergyXT good for this?

I just picked up NI Komplete2 as well as a few other apps, so I'd rather not have to tackle learning another app (EnergyXT) unless it's truly the best solution.

Mike

Since you picked up komplete 2, head over to the reaktor library and do a search for trance gate. I know there is an ensemble for it. If you cant find it there, I know it is on the patcharena.com ensemble list.

And since you own Reaktor, why not build your own?Sonar's one of the few apps where you can use Reaktor as a MIDI generator to control other soft synths.Try putting MIDI pitch and gate outputs on Chris List's Qatsi arpeggiator, for example, and use the echo DXi to armed tracks command in Sonar's global option menu...then insert the synth you want to control on another track and arm it.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Creating something in Reaktor sounds very tempting, as I would love to have an all-in-one midi effects tool with a decent UI (the UI's for Cakewalk's built-in MFX are horrible).

But even though I have Komplete now, I wasn't planning on even looking at creating any Reaktor ensembles until may January or so... there's just too much other software for me to come to grips with.

A midi-fx ensemble for Reaktor definitely seems like a worthy pursuit though... hmm...
