For one, certain Stretch voices play with random pops and other noises. Not very noticable, but I have extremely accute hearing and I find it bothersome. Anyone else have this problem?

Also, certain MIDI controllers don't work properly all of the time. For instance, I used the Lo-Fi effect for a drumkit, and I set up the first knob (Filter, I think), to sweep over a range of 8 bars or so. Unfortunately, during the course of the song, the sweep effect doesn't actually take place unless I have the ST2 window open as I play the song. If I close it and try to play the sweep section, nothing happens. It's like the MIDI messages aren't being registered.

I have no problem with other controllers, such as Volume. These work whether or not the ST2 window is open during the song.

You might be hearing the (un)natural artefacts of Stretch. It works amazingly well for providing true three-dimensional sound manipulation, but it's still not perfect. You can cover up the artefacts by using effects (delay and reverb work well), and strategic placing in the mix.

What host are you using? I've got a (possibly) similar problem. ST2 doesn't respond to custom MIDI assignments when doing a faster-than-realtime mixdown. My workaround was to mixdown at realtime. I'm using Cubase SX2.2, and it's just a matter of selecting an option in the mixdown dialogue.

Forever,

Kim.

I was using Home Studio 2, but a few days ago I... uh... obtained :-o a copy of Sonar 3. I haven't actually worked on the song in question since then.
