At least somebody's making a fuss about it - you can be sure the mags. will totally ignore it, forever, no matter how good it is!
Arguru is a great programmer, he produced so many trackers in such a short space of time, when other complete companies were still struggling to bring out one program, let alone five or six.

Very true. And Aodix 4 seems like it will combine the best of everything he's done, and more.

Hey Quincy, do you think the mags. will review it? I'd be bowled over if they did. If you don't think they'll review it (which is what I think), do you think that's acceptable?
Are trackers, or anything even remotely like a tracker, somehow okay targets for mass censorship?
IMHO, any program that anybody uses to make music is a good thing, so how can it be helpful to anybody to have a whole section of music software completely shunned by the mags., so most people never even know they exist, and if they do find out about them, they presume they must be rubbish?

You're right that trackers don't get loads of coverage, but "mass censorship" is an exageration.xg2 wrote:Hey Quincy, do you think the mags. will review it? I'd be bowled over if they did. If you don't think they'll review it (which is what I think), do you think that's acceptable?

I love trackers, used them for years, but there clearly isn't a huge market for it in terms of magazines. if they thought they could sell mags to tracker fans, they'd do it.
There is a thriving tracker community on the net, been going strong for years. If most of these guys were as pissed off as you are, something might have been done.
Tracking has always been an "underground" thing hand in hand with the demo scene. I'd reckon many might be happy to leave it that way because the community does plenty.

It's happy to see Arguru coding again for free... in fact, all the DiscoDSP Demo plugins are useful to create sounds altough they can't save ... and the original presets are good enough.
Load Vertigo within Chainer and export some multisamples to soundfonts... where vertigo uses 50%CPU and 10%Ram, Soundfont uses 10%CPU and 50% Ram...
Aodix seems more than interesting, and more than a 4th generation tracker... In my opinion, I'd like it to beat Buzz at least.

afaik tracking is a 'scene' and is a world of it's own - I doubt it really wants to be among the 'pros' as 'pro' can be regarded as negative in the context.

I'm very positive about Aodix. Just not positive about the control that a tiny number of individuals have over what YOU and everybody else gets to read about.
The mags. don't ignore trackers because they think they won't make any money out of reviewing them - this is a ridiculous suggestion - if a program's good or bad, they should review it. Doesn't it seem awfully strange to you all that the mags. simply pretend they don't exist? Isn't that a bit odd?
If they ignored Reason and simply refused to review it, wouldn't that be wrong? Of course!
I'm expecting Aodix to be very impressive, but I'm also expecting it to be ignored by all the mags.
The last time I tried to ask representatives of the mags. who were on this forum about this, they conveniently vanished. So we are none the wiser.
If anybody has a good reason why they aren't reviewing a whole class of music software, I'd love to hear it.
