Just bought this package. And all i can do is play samples from built in Intakt player. Ok this is not so bad bad i would like to use loops with Fruity Slicer or anything.

Is there way to extract this samples obviously stored in Wired_Lib.nks

Well...? Cant be impossible...

The answer is no. That's the very reason why the new trend is to sell sample libraries in proprietary formats.
And while that might make sense for some acoustic instruments such as strings and the likes, it defenitely sucks for anything drum based.

Oh well, you could try to load the file into Audacity as raw data - but don't expect it to be any fun at all.
Alternatively, run Intakt and bounce the results down, then cut 'em up. Again, not much fun either.

It doens't make much sense with anything, that includes strings. Mostly because they were programmed by people who don't write music themselves and therefore making adjustments is necessary most of the time.

Well, but those instruments, say, by East West, Garritan and the likes are highly useable and most often tweakable enough to make them suit your style - while many drumbased instruments just require your individual tweaks.

Anywaya, proprietary file formats suck big f**king time. Just another prove why copy protection (that's all what those formats are made up for) might harm the legit user.
Just an example: Let's say the complete Spectrasonics library would be just too big to take it with you on some laptop, so you'd only copy the most important ones onto it - impossible. Bah!

There's a lot more reasons for keeping the files together than just for copy protection. If you only installed certain files from Spectrasonics instruments, compatibility with many Patches, Multis and previous Songs would break. That would be a tech support nightmare for us.

Reason uses the same system, so it's not a new thing at all. The idea is that when the product is installed, the whole product is there and any songs or patches from any user will work. That's an important feature for a virtual instrument that is different from a traditional sampler.

Hard disc space is cheaper and bigger everyday and iPods are even now 60gb....so the portability issue is a relative thing.

Samplers are certainly the way to go if you want total freedom and flexibility, but they all have their own limitations and issues too.

Well here's a scenario I'm sure you (Spectrum) can understand :D ...

What if I have some East West Intakt/Kompakt based libraries (we'll say Wired, such as kmonkey mentioned), and I want to import these into Stylus RMX?

I have to play the sample, bounce it to a track, save it, open in recycle, save it as a REX, and then pull it into Stylus RMX. Now I don't mind the having to save as REX to pull into Stylus RMX, I think that it's a GREAT thing that you can import a REX into Stylus RMX, BUT having to bounce to a track just to grab the East West sample, bah!!! It's a laborious process to grab one loop, much less a few dozen or more.

If you own Kontakt I believe you can open the files in kontakt and then save as individual wave files.

No, impossible. That save option will be greyed out.

Just use an utility program like this one http://www.wiredplane.com/wirekeys/info.shtml
to enable the grayed out buttons. Look under plugins..

Johnny, have you actually tried this with Kontakt? Looks interesting... in theory.

A) I don't think that'd be legal, b) I don't think it'd work either because it's some NI internal menu.

Why wouldn't it be legal? I'm sure it legal as long as you don't share the files.

It's not legal becuase you are breaking a license agreement.

HI

I would do as SF stated - bounce/render your fav loops to audio, then Recycle/Phatmatik it up or whatever.

Not as big a chore as you think - unless you want the whole library this way!

I would do this for a few specific loops for a few specific tracks.

Flipper.
