Simple FL Question (pattern slicing)

Just trying my first songs with FL.
Using FL 4.5 I recorded a long segment of midi to pattern one. I realize I can cut and paste data to new patterns but is there a quicker way to slice the 10 min long pattern into many patterns?

is the midi pattern one instrument- in other words, is it all one instrument or a composite, like a drum pattern?

I let my DR-770 run and hit record and flipped through all the patterns. I want to seperate them into score files to use as grooves and patterns for later.
DR-770 is a drum machine. I want just want to split up the pattern by bars (not keys). I want to keep all drums in the same pattern. I will use a layer to send each key to differnt samplers or send that whole pattern to DR-008. So basically I have one FL patern that is made of many differnt midi patterns and I want the midi patterns to each have thier own FL pattern.

so what's the deal? Is it not possible? I know in tracktion an other linear sequencers all you have to do is cut the pattern at the cursor. But because patterns have their oun tracks in FL I'm not sure how this would work.
Come one FL lovers where are you now?

If you export the session as a midi file, couldn't you use any other prog to chop it up and then import it back to FL? I realise this is kind of a messy workaround, but at least it shoud work as far as I know..
-Edit- I don't know any programs that can do it, though -Edit

Beside cutting and pasting from the piano roll, that's the only other way I know of. Sorry.

This goes on the short list of "things FL is claimed not to be able to do."One wrote:FL cannot do this though it would be nice. Real nice...
I'm not sure I completely understand the problem, but, isn't it a bit premature to declare "it can't be done?"
Have you posed this question to the folks on LoopTalk? I've seen those guys solve problems that others would claim "can't be done."

Thanks copy and paste was the winner. Couldn't figure out how to export midi only a score file, other wize would have used tracktion. The reason I din't in teh first place was Tracktion has not synce to midi or wait for midi input to start recording.

there is a macro/ command under tools-->miscmacros-->prepare mor midi export that is a one-shot export command. Make sure you save your file before hand though, as it turns everything into midid channels!soma wrote:Thanks copy and paste was the winner. Copy and pasting is the only way I can think of to deal with this within FL. Make sure you learn the keyboard shortcuts though, it can really speed things up. In this case you could:
1. Open the piano poll and hold CTRL while dragging in the piano roll timeline (or double-click and drag) to select the first bar. Make sure the snap is on. This is the last time you'll need to use the mouse for this task.
2. CTRL + C to copy the measure to the clipboard.
3. Press the + key on the numpad to jump to next pattern, then hit CTRL + V to paste. Then hit the - key on the numpad to return to first pattern.
4. To select other bars now all you need to do is hold CTRL and use the right/left arrow keys to move from bar to bar. Repeat steps 1-3.

thanks it's just these kind of shortcuts I was looking for!
Is there a way to program a macro or script for this as I plan to dump all my hardware patterns to FL before ebay'n them all.
