I used to like ben harper, until I saw his DVD.
What an egomaniacal, self rightous, pseudointellectual, arsehole that guy is.
Throughout the whole DVD he would set himself up for a moment of WISODOM immediately preceeded with a
DRAMATIC PAUSE
he would get a look on his face like- "Watch out, Ima blow your mind with this knowledge I am throwing out"
He also would consistently abuse interviewers and criticize their questions and publicly humiliate them infront of the camera.
that guy just sux...

But what about THIS guy. 
Yeah, I'm less of a fan of Ben Harper these days for the reasons you just mentioned; however, some of the music is still quite good. It's often hard for me to separate the man from the music, though, so no matter how hard I try, his being a bit of a dick DOES affect my enjoyment of his music.
Abdel Wright seems OK though!

yeah I especially like the early stuff from Ben. But all cliches aside, I havent heard his last album yet, since I was so put off by that dvd.
Its funny how his dvd, which usually helps reinforce interest in an artist, had the complete opposite effect for me. from what I have heard, alot of others feel the same...

From personal experience, I have found that the more I like the music the less I like the person and vice versa. Kinda unfortunate. That's why I stay away from bios, meetings and DVDs... unless she's hot.
