CMuzy's "Random" function = "humanize" ?

(Haven't gotten any response at the Computer Music site, so figured I'd also post this question here.)

OK, here's the deal: I've got a phrase a few measures long that I want to be played two octaves apart (i.e., the same notes starting on, say, A2 and A4). I couldn't quite play the part two handed to my satisfaction, so I played it once one-handed. Set the grid to be that sequence and copied the notes to replicate them two octaves down from where I played. So I have my two-octave version of the phrase.

Now, I want this phrase to appear in two places in my song, played by two instruments (layered) each place. So I'd like to humanize my basic few measures of MIDI four times, once for each instrument for each place I need to use it, so that all of the notes don't sound in perfect sync. Looking around CMuzys, it looks like the Random function under Sequence, Position in the Key Editor is what I need. Am I on the right track, or am I overlooking a better way to do what I'm after?

Thanks for any help.

Yes - you are on the right track.
This will change the relative positions of the notes based on a strength factor. Therefore, if applied over your selection you will get what you are looking for.

This kind of functionality sets the Muzys products ahead of the pack in the lower-cost market in my opinion.

The function itself is over individual events however. So be aware of the fact that you if you run it over a chord, it will apply the randomisation over each note in the chord individually. Meaning that if the notes are exactly aligned, they probably won't be after you apply the randomisation.

Thanks, Caleb. Much appreciate the help, as this little bit of MIDI tweaking is getting me close to the end of basic tracks for my current project.
